Its fine for pokerstars or "Keep Talking" and such. I "solved" it by getting a Wifi6 card on my PC and connecting direct. That works really well as long as I am within 30 feet or so.

Speaking of Skyrim, thanks to the poster who posted the VR object pickup mod. It's just not SkyrimVR if you can't throw sweet rolls at NPCs or knock over a whole table setting by wildly swinging a dinner plate around like an rear end in a top hat. It was the final piece of the puzzle of making SkyrimVR feel like classic Skyrim.

I had to file a customer support request to get my free copy of Asgard’s Wrath. They only needed proof of purchase, the quest 2’s S/N and your oculus account. They also responded, replied, and added the game in like 20 minutes. Neat!

Jokerpilled Drudge posted:it's good, youre lowering your carbon footprint and the poo poo usually works. Amazon typically offers 90 day warranties on refurb products Electronics failure rates fall under the umbrella of things governed by what we call the bathtub curve: failure rates are high at first and drop precipitously in the first month or two, like the steep wall of a bathtub’s outline, then bottom out for years like the floor of a bath before slowly rising over time like the shallow wall of a tub. This corresponds to devices that got past QA but have some busted or bad component that goes bad very quickly, devices that have a long successful life, and then those surviving devices that, after years, have some part that wears out or slowly goes bad. The ones that die right away are where refurb stock comes from: if they can be rescued or easily fixed, they sell it for cheaper (and sometimes the fix doesn’t work/there’s a deeper more insidious issue - this is when refurb devices fail quickly within the shortened warranty window) but if they make it through the first 3 months of the new warranty they’re likely to be fine long term. So at worst you might have to get a replacement refurb and your savings are offset by extra hassle. Then there’s the products that are just designed so poorly/cut rate components that refurbs are as likely to die at random as they are to survive long term, but that’s not as common as you move away from indistinguishable Shenzen brands towards names you’ve heard of - though sometimes a product is just a lemon design still! I got wireless working. My new TP-Link doesn’t show until tomorrow but it still worked almost perfectly with my stock modem/router that has 8+ things on it. Every couple minutes of playing I saw some blanking out of the corner of my eye when moving my head quickly but it’s still 99% perfect and absolutely playable. drat, wireless PCVR, that is quite a step.

VR sniper progress https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MivLNtsXq84 One thing I've noticed is as a consequence of calculating the aim based on two hand positions, if you hold your grip further apart you get a more stable aim than if you're choking up and holding it near your other hand. Landing most shots even at long range so smoothing seems to be working. I tried playing with a few different alternative ideas for gun momentum today but nothing really felt any better. You can see the 1911 lags behind my hand a little bit, I may turn off the smoothing for non-scoped weapons, although its not so bad that its game-ruining. I know somebody is going to say I need to add tons of recoil.... maybe. I'm still not sure I want to, but I am getting further away from 1:1 control anyways. But right now this gun has infinite ammo; in final it won't and you'll have to manually reload the clips. This is also the autosniper, and I have a .50 cal model, a SVD model, and a couple bolt action rifles, so most of those will require some kind of manual interaction to cycle the bolt between shots. With that, I'm not sure recoil is really needed, you won't be popping off shots in rapid succession like this. Still, it may feel better to artificially kick the gun aim.. I guess I'll toy with that tomorrow. And you can see I'm already working on a mounted biped sniper rifle, but my first pass at the rotation math has a bug so I've got to spend more time on it.

The great thing about Skyrim VR is that a lot of the mods that work for Special Edition also work with VR mostly without issue. A few things need fixes here and there, and the Unofficial Skyrim Patch is a pain in the rear end to get because Arthmoor is a gently caress, but that's really more of a topic for the Skyrim Mods thread.

My problem with Skyrim VR is it runs way shittier than it has any right to on my hardware. I have trouble keeping a stable 90fps on a 2070super/3700x, when I have no trouble getting a solid 90 maxed settings on HL:Alyx, so I dunno what I'm doing wrong. Steam Supersampling just set to the normal 100%, no super sampling in skyrim itself or anywhere in the oculus app, dynamic resolution or whatever it's called in skyrim off, even did poo poo like tweak nvidia control panel settings for it, etc etc. It's playable, like it's not chugging along or anything, but I wanna mod the gently caress out of it and a lot of the mods I want are just too much of a performance hit. Things like static mesh improvement mod, flora overhaul, realistic water two, it gets noticeably lovely. :/ Dont wanna have to buy a 3090 or something just for pretty vr skyrim.

However, a separate AP is not at all needed and more of a solution for people who are otherwise having issues or just want to play with a setup.

Jim Silly-Balls posted:Wheeeeeeen can we play it? I could plonk out another demo now if you wanted to just test the sniper rifle handling, but there's just some targets to shoot at so it'd get old fast. I need to script the AI for the level so you have more interesting targets. That shouldn't take too long though, a couple days? I don't want to over-promise I was thinking about seeing if anybody wanted to just testing the handling as-is for feedback... I guess I can do both. I wanted to get a steam page up by now, but I got cold feet worrying people would write it off as just a simple shooting gallery (which it is) so I started working on vehicle stages, but those are a bit involved, so now I'm focusing on trying to build a sniper level and a turret level to at least show some variety. I'm also rolling up a small business so the steam page may not be up for a month or so, but I can post private builds in the thread or in my discord server in the meantime.
