8 in a row for Purdue over IU, longest streak since the late 20s-early 30s, 5 straight in Bloomington and 10 of 11 overall. Also ends a stretch of 4 straight road conference games, longest road trip since 1959-60. However, they start a 4 games in 9 games stretch on Sunday that finishes with @OSU, Michigan, and Minnesota. Oof.

It's hard to argue that Rutgers isn't a fraud after this one and the previous few games. What an utterly miserable game at home when they really needed a win. Harper, Mathis and Baker have just completely disappeared as offensive factors. You can't lose 3 straight at home.

With Louisville losing to Miami, UVA is back in 1st in the ACC. They stomped a pretty good Clemson team tonight and seem to have found their balance after a slow start. They won't play like that every night, and I still don't think they're a Final Four type team, but maybe still good enough to win an ACC that doesn't have anybody really elite.

Eli Brooks was back today and Michigan got back to their winning ways, by blowing out Maryland by 24. The game was over from about 4 minutes into the game when Michigan was up 22-8. Maryland got it back to 11 points at one point, but it never got back to single digits.

Since I barfed out the above, here seems to be the full story: https://theathletic.com/2340345/2021/01/23/michigan-purdue-basketball-covid-19/ - Everyone at Purdue was in the postgame celebration circle on Tuesday, program has overall good standards otherwise - Sasha feels lovely on Wednesday, takes two tests (presumably antigen), tests negative both times, quarantined anyways - Sasha still feels lovely on Thursday, tests positive, everyone else is still negative, Michigan gets notified - Michigan hasn't left yet, players/coaches demand that Purdue upgrades their testing to 100% PCR tests, which all come back negative, all players on Michigan/Purdue told - Friday rolls around, Sasha's somehow still the only positive, B1G decides not to call game, Michigan/Purdue both agree to play - Purdue sends out LOL SASHA GOT COVID tweet two hours before gametime, viewing public isn't told that all of the above happened transparently and the players/coaches were fine with it Problems: - They seem to only hold out people for "contact tracing" if they're near people when symptomatic (discounting presymptomatic spread) - It's not clear how much of the teams' medical staffs were involved - Nothing was said about where Sasha might've picked up COVID (unless they knew) Weird poo poo.

Yeah 2018 KU lost ten games and was a 4 seed and looking at the schedule that could easily happen again. More importantly that season KU was a second game out in the tournament and that is looking really likely. Ugh we were so good last season and this year can't score or rebound which makes it tough. Also we have one big. Just one. (Lightfoot is not a big)
