I’ve been a carousel with this since my last year in med school. Sometimes my doc and I try new stuff, because we both know where this ends up: Clozapine resistant schizophrenia. At least I know bilateral electro convulsant therapy works for me for a while, but we agree it must be done as an inpatient throughout the first couple of weeks and I’m just getting tired of it. His wife told me that if you added all of the time since 2001 I’ve lived four and a half years inside, about a third of that in isolation. I’m still fighting because I don’t want to end up like my great-grandma Novella who had the same diagnosis as I do but was in an Asylum for sixty years. I’m ok, but as a caregiver to a 97yo Granny with dementia and no ability to blow off steam at a movie or bookstore, or visiting friends from all over the world that have my back even when I’m paranoid. I have a few friends who are scientists working for American companies in China and Europe and they send me updates and thoughts and musings once a week or so and can FT me if I promise to remember the time zone differences. I just get discouraged about the path out country is sliding down and since November it’s tougher thinking about mortality and worried about my son’s future without me (he is a 21yo psychology grad so I shouldn’t, but I don’t really have a lot of control in my own head). And then I read the Bitcoin threads and giggle at the laughchain until I see some shmuck lost his wife’s inheritance or lost his kids’ college fund and just get sick of it all over again. Sorry for rambling, just can’t sleep. Bitcoiin == scam.

I can get wordy, but at least it’s not word salad. Ask Dr Wikipedia vampire if we’ve ever exchanged polite messages because of me rambling in the comments on his blog blog ! The threat of anonymity with BTC is significantly lesser by the fact that most convenient exchanges do in fact require a whole slew of ID. Having a bank account isn't enough. Show us you can use it. Then show us where you live. And if we suspect you're buying drugs or weapons we may simply ban your account. To the point you have to wonder if the person you buy from doesn't buy from someone sketchy as the entire chain of transactions is basically public. So while I'm talking rubbish here I see the threat more as if you happen to find people who acquired coins without going through an exchange then they they are harder to track for a few transactions. Actually wonder if there is a market for BTC, mined and kept in cold storage, never sent to another wallet. Bright Bart fucked around with this message at 18:02 on Jan 22, 2021 |

The sewer department isn’t going to steal them from me because they control the pipes by more than 51%. My favorite, however, is that at least my toilet paper won’t crash when Tether (obviously not fiat; it is real because it’s on the internet and not like dollars that are both online and in the real world and useful around the world to both buy a bolt of cloth for mama’s micro-business in India and buying $5 worth of gas just to get home). There is a good bet that I get a loan to buy a car not only will a bank/credit union won’t cancel my account.
