We can only talk about one good director in this thread at a time before reverting to Star Wars. I wonder what JJ Abrams version of Warth to the Moon would look like? Now I’m picturing eight rockets hitting eight moons AT ONCE!!

I didn't even hear about Silence (pun not intended) until I saw a random commercial about it after it had already been out for 3 weeks. I made sure I went to see it the very next day, and a week after that it was out of the theatre. Taxi driver is on Netflix so I will probably make that happen in the next few days now that this thread has gotten to talking about it

Ugh shutter island another one I forgot exists. Ok it’s worse than Guardians of the Galaxy. There is a one movie bleedover between Marvel and Scorsese but I almost feel like I shouldn’t admit it

The thing about a lot of the lower ranked Scorsese movies is if anyone else made them that would be a huge feather in their cap. Like if one of the A24 directors made Gangs of New York they'd be toasted forever as great directors. But because it's Scorsese they're judged on a whole different scale, like they're a 2 star michelin restaurant who didn't get a third star because the steak had one one milligram too much pepper. Except Shutter Island. It sucked out loud.

after noticing that no one has mentioned After Hours (its ok but very much about newyork problems) in this thread, i think im going to do an 80s only Scorsese marathon ending with the last temptation of christ. its the only 80s marty i havent seen yet.

Was never a fan of any of the Leo performances in Scorsese films tbh. Wolf of Wall Street was his best one but I thought Aviator, Shutter Island and GONY are all really weak Scorsese films.

The Departed is pretty great because it's a good guy cop who looks like a creepy pretty boy weirdo, and a bad guy cop who looks like an upstanding pretty boy normie, and they're circling around each other in a double cat and mouse as they try to figure out the other's identity. That's right, forget the Netflix adaptation, The Departed is the real live action Death Note.

Watching the Netflix glass blowing competition show and one of the contestants teaches it at RISD, and two episode in he was an instructor for both the guest judges and the other contestants are like "It's an honor just to be in the room with this guy". Like, motherfucker there appear to only be like a dozen glass-blowing jobs in the country, every other contestant is broke as gently caress and talking about "well I'm gonna have to quit and get a real job if I don't win this" and you have one of those dozen jobs do you really need this?

He’s obviously the villain and it’s working because I hate him. But I finished episode 8 and the fact that he’s still there is maddening. He should’ve gone home on multiple episodes. Justice for Nao.

Like, the prize of a yearlong residency doesn't even make sense for him he's a loving professor of glass at RISD. I have not seen: King of Comedy, Mean Streets, Bringing Out the Dead, Cape Fear, Color of Money, Hugo, Silence, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Last Waltz, Age of Innocence, Rolling Thunder Revue Which one should I watch tonight? You decide! Unless I find out that Age of Innocence is an adaptation of the Edith Wharton book and then I'm watching that tonight no matter what you say.
