I’ve seen ballots I generally agree with in the past. But the details are ultimately irrelevant because everyone will have a different subjective view on these things. What would be improved by 6 guys at the HoF deciding instead of 400 writers? It would still be the subjective opinion of a small group of people.

No matter who is deciding, it’s an aggregation of the opinions of a few people. Whoever that group is they should quit bitching about it the subjective nature of the whole process.

Oh absolutely, but I guess what I'm asking is how a Hall of Famer can be measured at all; I understand everyone has their own rules, and if there's enough crossover, deciding on a HOF-er is a good decision when you can get so many crazy people to agree. The problem is that so many writers don't publicize how they decide or how they vote. I'm fine with blank ballots as long as we understand why. I had my own feelings on what a HOF-er is, but after a while, it just didn't matter when you had people enshrined who were clearly not up to the high bar just a few years previous.

Yeah the categories of BBWAA voter now appear to be:

-extremely self important
-trolls looking for attention
-old guys carrying out a crusade over steroids
-people complaining about having to make subjective decisions
-people who say they don’t care/the process is bad so they refuse to participate

Presumably there are a few who just vote and don’t make a big stink about it?

quote:

Todd did plenty of kvetching of his own, at one point writing, “…my kids live in the same neighborhood and go to the same school as Tom’s kids and I don’t want them to have to constantly explaining that there are equal owners when they are told that their uncle owns the Cubs.” When describing how Tom reacted to this complaint on a phone call, Todd wrote, “I have to say, I was shocked and disappointed with aggressive, hostile tone in which Tom responded. In fact, I would call it an ‘uninvitation’ to be part of this process.”

When is ball technically a homerun? Once it lands over the fence? What if a ball was hit into stable orbit, would the game be put on hold indefinitely?

Someone needs to hire a bouncy house company to setup one in Jed Hoyer's parking spot, again, because this team is a bad joke.

My dad pointed out that the incentive for Hoyer is not to win in year 1 but in the last year's of his contract and I hate it when he's right.

I'm really excited about drafting the next Cory Spangenberg.

He's a solid swing man/ back end starter guy, it won't be anything big but it might not be total nobodies (edit: ok they are nobodies). Lmao at his stats from last year though, gotta be some of the worst luck I've ever seen. 37.8% HR per fly ball percentage! The inflated .341 BABIP and 59% LOB percentage almost seem normal in comparison. The spread between his ERA (9.65), FIP (7.76) and xFIP (4.15) is also something else. Either its low sample size craziness or he became the pitching equivalent of Job last year.
