What, how could the conversation have possibly gotten to this point :psyduck:

How on earth can you possibly be talking about the cost of college without mentioning the world "college" so that someone could think you're talking about Bitcoin.

I know he's trying to do the political cartoonist joke "This is bad" "Yes thing bad" "No, I meant other thing!" format, but drat usually there's at least some reason the second person doesn't have the proper context. Like the first person is commenting on a newspaper or news show out loud that the other person can't see, but this is a conversation between two people. Did he just call her up and say "wow look how high the price is" with no introduction and she just made her best guess at what nonsense he was ranting about today?

E: even that didn't happen because "I'm just saying" implies they've already been on this subject for a while and he's coming back to the original point, ahh it's so lazy

I always forget Quisling was an actual person. You kind of have to know who Benedict Arnold was to get why that's a pejorative, but quisling just sounds like it should have a deep etymological root in the Latin for burrowing parasite or something.

Even during the war, when Quisling still was alive, people had trouble remembering that quisling was an actual name:

There's a degree or two difference between them, though.

Petain became premier through legal processes in a situation where French government didn't have any good options left but sign a humiliating armistice. His government had wide international recognition, including USA.

In contrast Quisling had been tooting his horn for Hitler well before the invasion. Then when Nazis invaded Norway he immediately offered himself to be the lackey of Germany and PM of Norway, which tempted Hitler, but King Haakon refused to name him and thus without any legitimacy and with his unpopularity Nazis ditched Quisling at first, and the German guy in charge of Norway even sent him away to Germany. But Quisling managed to win Hitler to his side and got to return to Norway and lead his puppet government while the same German guy who hated him continued being in charge of everything.

So all in all, Petain was an old war hero who disgraced himself but not because he wanted to support Nazis. Quisling was a Nazi traitor from the start and a complete puppet.

France made peace with Italy and Germany. There was a war, and France lost, and they had a peace treaty, and then they were out of the war. It was over. It only wasn't over in the sense that loving evil Brits murdered 1400 French sailors at Mers-el-Kébir out of pure paranoia. France wasn't conquered in the same way Poland was.

No this is absolute bullshit and the proof is that the French Navy scuttled their leftover ships at Toulon after France was actually conquered by the Nazis in '42.
