That's all true but at the end of the day if you're going at highways speeds and hit black ice there's only so much you can do. Rather than anybody in the crash being bad drivers the question is could the situation have been prevented in the first place.

Improving state-run drivers ed facilities would be an infrastructure issue, therefore it's practically impossible for the US to fix it or even make steps towards improving the current situation

The country is designed to exist in a perpetual state of near collapse where the entire efforts of the state and federal governments are required just to keep the lights on.

Everyone I know has hit black ice at some point, none have ever spun out or crashed due to it. For whatever that anecdotal evidence is worth, I think the fact that low-traction driving courses are mandatory here is a big factor.

Was it on a series of elevated roadways with no shoulders in a state where you would have to special order winter tires even if you wanted them for the couple days a year where you would need them even if you had advanced warning?

Motorway speeds here are 110 and 130kph, so that's around 70 and 80mph, I don't know whether they were actually going that fast in each particular situation. Personally I keep my speed down if there's a risk of slippery conditions, but I see plenty of people go 130+kph here even in winter, and yet I can't remember the last time there was an actual pile-up on the motorway.

"There was nothing we could have done, these people were just meant to pile up and the deaths were inevitable. Case closed."

E: According to news articles, crews were pre-treating the roads well in advance of the pileup happening, so the low traction did not happen suddenly out of nowhere. Put the blame on bad information flows, lack of radio warnings, drivers not knowing how to deal with adverse conditions and/or not being able to refrain from driving, honestly I don't care. The simple fact is that this was a 100% preventable tragedy.

That wasn't their point. Stop trying to make these deaths the fault of the drivers so you can laugh at them in the schad thread.

As always when discussing fixing something poo poo about the US we quickly run into the fact that every layer above it is also hosed up and has to be fixed first. Which is why it should all be burned down so you guys can start fresh.

Gonna align pretty heavily with this being an institutional fuckup as opposed to a failure of "personal responsibility." I'd want logs and proof that this specific area got treated for ice. If it wasn't, than every single death is the fault of the private highway company (LO loving L). The weather report was clear well in advance that risk of rapid icing was likely to happen. General reports that roads were being treated has no bearing on this specific road/company.

It's 7 years for 10 counts of possession, and yes, he is in state prison in Florida for his offenses. It was found out on accident by florida goons, and I confirmed it.

The only thing publicly viewable is his sentence status and the arrest affidavit. The arrest affidavit describes the images he had open on his computer and the ones he uploaded to imgur (who reported him to local authorities). Many of the girls in the images are described as under 10 years old. It was not a pleasant read.
