Dorohedoro is one of the most fascinating, ambitious and unique settings I've ever encountered and that the anime adaptation was anything but an unmitigated disaster is an incredible feat. It would regularly show up on lists of "series that will never get an anime because it'd be impossible to properly adapt it in a satisfying way" due to how filthy, grimy, slimy, gory, violent etc the entire setting is, that the resulting anime is good enough to recommend to basically anyone is an incredible achievement

Cartoon Man posted:I tried to get my younger daughter to watch the new Carmen Sandiago show on Netflix and she wasn’t too into it which was a shame. The show is very very good. She’s essentially Kim Possible and it’s very well done. I was slightly annoyed by them turning her into the noble thief archetype, which goes against everything the young me (who would hurry home from school to catch the original) stood for, but it's still on my list to watch eventually. Do they at least have some teaching moments about geography still?

Also it's very very good.

more talkin' bout dorohedoro. for reference, when I say "people never thought it would get an adaptation" it's because the entire manga is this level of grimy: nobody ever thought they'd be able to capture the proper level of rusty, filthy dilapidatedness that the manga puts forth at every single page FilthyImp posted:I dunno what the gently caress I just watched. But I want more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH_YJde1yps&hd=1 it's a series entirely centered around psychopathic serial killers one and all in the most miserable, depressing, run-down world to live in, and still makes you love almost every single one of them regardless of which "side" they're on. like Noi, a hitwoman built like a brick shithouse who, when it's time for business, the mask goes on, but off the clock is a big goofball https://www.deviantart.com/gerph/art/Dorohedoro-Tribute-682798377 https://www.deviantart.com/khronen/art/Happy-Valentine-Day-by-Noi-830397722 https://www.deviantart.com/joshwongart/art/Dorohedoro-Shin-and-Noi-268828034 https://www.deviantart.com/emlan/art/dhd-bffs-209485007 and one of the best characters has barely made an appearance in the anime. https://www.deviantart.com/chooone/art/DOROHEDORO-Chidaruma-531925000
