Carly shook her glass, willing the ice to melt. "You still haven't told me what the mission is."

She leaned forward. "We are going to assassinate the bad men of Hollywood."

Star Citizen wisely recognized almost a decade ago that the worst thing that could happen to an omegahype game is to get released.

so off the top of my head

the driving and races are good?
the perk system is good?
crafting is good?
enemy AI, that literally trips over itself, is good?
player powercurve is good?

because all of those are terrible. and I play a ton of terrible games. including the launch console version of cp2077

it is funny, like a lot of the bugs I encountered. but cyperbunk is like supposed to be this serious, adult thing with like GUNS and BLOOD and SEX and TRULY ENGAGING STORYLINES and then you play it and

npcs driving around in exploded cars, the fire licking their faces as V slow mo walks around a corner because for some reason ADS has broke their melee again, the tyger claws tripping over each others balls and the teleporting cops coming on duty because a stray bullet hit some tposing npc made from ps1 textures right before the ps5 crashes for the 70th time

The prologue is very very very good, the rest of the game is just a skeleton of a game. They needed like another year for the rest of the game with johnny and then another 2 years to make the side quests not knockoff farcry side quests.

I think it’s when you order a fillet mignon it takes too long turns out they’re out of fillet mignon and comes out as a Ribeye with different sides, you eat the whole thing and it’s amazing but you can’t be sure if it’s because you had to wait so long. Tip the server cuz you know it wasn’t their fault and drop a bad review on Yelp in hopes the business gets better.

Its a dumb joke, everyone knows SC is -- just by its very nature -- a worse game than anything actually released and playable

like I've made some serious effort bullshit about what I find lacking in CP2077 but honestly without the "its good" vs its bad" posts this thread is gonna die real fast because there's just not a whole lot left to discuss without being dumb or writing 5k words essentially making the same point

I enjoy deconstructing the major issues in CP2077 and like I've said a ton, I hope they do address those problems as well as the bugs and crashes in the next year

I can't tell who the hell is actually effortposting to say something is bad in Cyberpunk and people that are just trolling anymore.

But I'll say that Cyberpunk is the PF Chang's or Cheesecake Factory of games currently, not Taco Bell. Talking about a cyberpunk dystopian future with any measure of seriousness is pretty much the zeitgeist.

Actually the stand out experience of the game is the sound track. It's got the bleak synth string ambient sounds of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and the buzzsaw compressed guitar of Mick Gordon's Doom soundtracks.

here is my cyberpunk is food take, follow me on this one

cp2077 is a pop-up food truck with an aggro Instagram with at least 20 stories a day of these juicy, giant burgers that almost pop out of your phone they look so good

then you drive down because gently caress it and you find the burgers are waay too expensive, the potato fryer is broken, and they ruin the primo beef from the small local butcher by overcooking it to the point that the moment the ketchup hits the patty all of it's moisture is siphoned out and a cold breeze sweeps away the leftover ketchup flakes

but the ray tracing is nice.

Sony animator talking about the sheer attention to detail that CDPR put in with a case study of Evelyn's introduction. Good example of how there's a ton of technical excellence present that players won't even notice oftentimes.

I'll accept going to a restaurant and just listening to the stage musicians for the evening even if the food has a weird taste sometimes. The composers really, really branched out after the Witcher 3 soundtracks and it's interesting how they approached a purely instrumental soundtrack when there were so many vocals before in Witcher 3. Not sure how much influence Paul Leonard-Morgan had on the soundtrack but he's credited with some of the harder hitting tracks (they all do a lap around the hard electronic music circuit, granted). I'd still like to see if a Hans Zimmer style orchestral score would have worked for an already noisy, busy game like Cyberpunk. A sonnet played while a gangster trips over a buddy would look ridiculous maybe.

Also, isn't Doom 2016's guitar not actually a guitar if I'm understanding Mick's talk right?

Some of it is guitar some of it is heavily processed sound samples. You can definitely see him playing the bass lines for some of the tracks on his 9 string bass guitar in making of videos.

If you watch the video you posted he explains how he incorporated various guitar sounds that he played in his studio.
