Skyrim is a more interesting game than this even without mods. The side stuff is all in interesting unique places instead of dirty alley 122 where there are a few enemies standing around for you to kill for xp. I'm saying that even though I mostly like this game...

(Getting called "whore" or "oval office" all the time gets kinda old when playing lady V, hopefully they'll do a full AI overhaul which also includes more imaginative insults. For example "bastard" or "wankmonger" or something)

I'm holding out for a miracle combined Witcher 1 Enhanced Edition plus Divinity Original Sin Extended Edition somewhere around 2022. That's what it's gonna take, but I'm afraid the money people are going to bail upon realizing multiplayer is never, ever happening, and demand more Witcher spinoff adventures and Gwent mobile content.

As is, I hope with a few more patches it gets to shine more. I like the game a lot but it's very flawed.

The thing that makes me have such an affinity for the game despite what a mess it is, is how much you can see what a coherent vision the talent behind it had. Everything from the soundtrack to the art direction, lore, animation and quest design has a lot to love, but the unfortunate fact is that it's all held together with baling wire and tape, which seriously detracts from so much great work that people put in.

If CP2077 just had the character missions and set pieces bound up in a focused linear action game that was about the same length of a B-tier release like BG&E or Heavenly Sword back in the day, it could have been an all-timer.

There were a lot of neat details in the game - the cat outside Misty's, the backdrop and the framing of the scene when you're on the roof with Johnny making the final decision, the epitaphs in the Columbarium. Probably a bunch of other stuff I totally missed. This is one of the very few games that I actually want to play through again.

Re: the music - the soundtrack is better than some film scores. I find myself listening to a lot of it in my regular rotation of music at work. Hoping to hear more of Marcin Przybylowicz's stuff in future games. He did Witcher 3 (also great) and supposedly he did a score for a polish TV series as well, but I haven't tracked it down, yet.

I found a shard that was almost a self parody by the developers talking about a video game that was released in the Maelstrom hideout next to the docks of the Ebunike. Didn't think to get a screenshot but sometimes I wonder if they knew that even if they released a masterpiece that there would be a bunch of people whining no matter what.

I think it's deliberate that the Columbarium is designed very similarly to the visual interpretation of the entrance to Alt's world. Both of them represent enshrinement of memories and souls. Which is why when players pick that it means Johnny will visit it to enshrine someone and be shown to the player with the same angle V faced when exiting the car. Alt says that the place is an interpretation as V's connection to cyberspace is growing, but it's not clear what the two tier courtyard references in V's head from the first two Alt visits. This may provide some clues / alliteration that foreshadows what's going on. One doesn't need to know what something is to perceive something in cyberspace much like in the real world.

You'd almost think that they made sketches from the game and passed it off as concept art. Surprisingly rare to see concept art for projects going on for almost a decade taken to the final product almost exactly as-is. I didn't look too much at the promo besides the art book released prior to the game.

Also, I caught some concept art of surf boards. SURF BOARDS in... CYBERPUNK? Is that precedented?

a lot of the actual game, if you ignore the rpg stats aspect, is kinda like far cry 3.

You have little bases of enemies patrolling around and you take them out in a manner fairly similar to how far cry plays. The skill set is similar but far cry allows you to chain maneuvers together quickly. And while not exclusive to far cry 3 there is a "jump on a dude from above" takedown, and they also have in the CP77 upgrade tree a "perform takedown from water" which I don't think is even possible to do in the game. But that's also a far cry 3 unlock I'm pretty sure.

I'm going to grab the skill tree from far cry 3 / 4 later and see how it compares to CP77
