One character stated that "the bolsheviks couldn't organize a picnic" and i admit i chuckled.

I also finished season 5 and looked up the organization and some of the real people involved to coax my curiousity.

It features jessie eden in season 4, who i liked, though she was used as a means for certain ambitions. Apparently people thought her fictional representation was not good, at all.

Oswald mosley comes in season 5 and well, i learned about the UBF. Holy gently caress. Hearing "Britain first" was very reminiscent of a recent orange president.

Edit: its basically boardwalk empire but british, so if youre into that sort of thing. Each season is six episodes and about 42 mins each episode. You can binge it or do so many episides. My favorite character was alfie solomons played by Tom Hardy, who comes in season 3.

like honestly the only great things about Star Wars are the design and setting. light sabers, X-Wings, Tie Fighters, the force, Hoth, Tatooine, etc. the stories and acting have almost nothing to do with why Star Wars is cool and fun

e: in the movies, anyway. it’s why you can make good spinoff stuff like The Mandalorian and Clone Wars

The lore is surprisingly well built for something that was inspired by early era flash Gordon and shakespeare. It was easy to build and flesh out. Lucas did what he set out to do: make a space epic.

Its another reason why i understand a lot of the anger when the books were no longer considered canon as the sequels were announced. The books fleshed out more of the lore and people held on to that, especially if they were younger when they were introduced to it.

If you didnt read the books though and just simply watched the movies, everything was still easy to follow, even if you didn't know a difference between a bith and a twi'lek. At least if you see a picture of either one that person would know the association.

Star wars is just a great capsule of right place, right time in history. I really marvel at how and why it's so successful and its legacy. Its also the most susceptible to lovely choices because of its flexibility and accessability.

Edit: yes im in a roleplay group on the mmo, why do you ask?

Star Wars should pull away from the Jedi stuff and show the perspective of other kinds of characters in the war against the Empire/First Order/whoever the hell is the bad side. But people love seeing the wavy hands and lightsabers so its greatest fruit is its greatest burden.

I want to look forward to the Rogue Squadron movie but I expect them to pull some Force-sensitive nonsense that wasn't cool like the monk in Rogue One and Patty Jenkins does some uncomfortable analogy to a Vietnam conflict.

The strong analogy to nazism might make that a hard sell for future projects, but with the success of the Mandolorian, I don't see how it can't be plausable.

I think a rebel spy in the empire/order ranks would be a clever turn and make it interesting.

The issue though is they have to make things less black and white, which is the heart of the series. The rebels representing good and empire, evil. You see shimmers of it in certain movies and characters like rogue one and Mandolorian, but it goes back to good defeats evil.

When i saw The Last Jedi I was really hoping they went the Grey Jedi route and still hope they do because it would keep with the desired aesthetic but brings up the moral ambiguities of the series. However, a rebel spy could conflict with the idea of freedom v. Order. Chaos v. Order.

Edit: now that im thinking about it, isnt Rosario Dawson's ahsoka getting a spin off? She'd be a perfect candidate for such a thing. She's seen the best and worst of the force.

Despite TLJ's issues, I did enjoy the whole thing of Kylo Ren becoming akin to the Dark Jedi from the Legends. Until Disney decided to make the next installment about a stupid space race for a cinderblock triangle and reeled back to nostalgia so hard that the truck they drove flipped over.

I'm of the opinion that the focus should of stayed with Kylo. You could tell that there was a lot of care taken to his arc throughout the series.

It's not to say Rey shouldn't have been there, or Finn or Poe or Rose for that matter. There was just a lot of solid ideas for those arcs, but their focus was dropped in between the movies. In fact, i think if we look at it from each movies standpoint, the films could have each of the characters fighting ren in their own way. Finn v. Ren as rey and finn find out they are force sensitive, rey and finn v. Ren as they train and after, and poe/finn vs. Order and rey v. Ren without changing much and taking out the worst of them. I have my issues with the sequels but it was strictly the writing and i dont think it was all the writers fault.

The thing i hate most is Finns development. It was clear from the first movie he was suppose to be force sensitive. The studios did john boyega dirty and im glad he spoke out.

The funniest thing about the prequels is that Hayden Christiansen and Natalie Portman were hooking up IRL and they couldn't translate that into their romance scenes

Lmao I cant even take a few days off this forum to prepare for Snowmageddon without some juicy drama being dropped. Also how is there an active helldump thread in that forum? Conversely if helldump brought about too toxic behavior its time to do the goose as they did the gander.

Besides being in the right time and place, Star Wars had a lot of talented people work on the movie. Hell I think it was Coppola who gave editing advice, Lucas's wife pretty much saves the movie in the editing bay by giving the attack on the Death Star some stakes. For as much praise as the prequels get now for being the last time a film maker had their unvarnished vision put to screen, the original trilogy worked because people were able to tell Lucas no, and which ideas were dumb. People say that oh used car salesman lizard Obi-wan would be cool, because it stands as a contrasting idea to what we actually got, and someone could find that alternative interesting n if that's what we'd gotten in '77 Star Wars would be a footnote. Though I wonder if ILM would have continued to be a thing if Star Wars had failed. I don't know if you get big special effects movies if Star Wars bombed.

her name is Beyonce

since she is also a "queen", and the first syllable of her name is "bee", then she's a "queen bee"

since she's a queen bee, then her fans form a... bee hive

it's entirely deliberate
