This has nothing to do with riding bikes, but I do not like the new Panaracer logo. Branding changes should be incremental and gradual. This is...not.

Why Pirelli doesn't use their F1 "P" logo on their bike tires is beyond me. Also I need some gloves. I have used the Giro Westerly Wool gloves for years and they are disintegrating and only being held together by gumption alone. Looking for something similar if anyone has any recommendations for a similar glove. I prefer something that can breath like a wool blend.

Giro seems to have a couple of wool gloves still, the d'wool, and knit merino. In other news I bought a pearl izumi pro insulated jacket as winter was starting and am not really liking how it fits me, a tall skinny person (6'1, 160). Just a little too loose and baggy across the front and flaps around a bit too much on the road. Anyone interested? Size medium, very light, very warm, moderately water resistant, handy zippered back pocket. This one: https://www.pearlizumi.com/US/en/shop/men/outerwear/road/pro_insulated_jacket/p/11132014 made an sa mart thread, have some new bib shorts in there too: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3960059

Dumb question. Do I need to keep my front tire inflated to 120 psi or whatever on my bike while I'm using it on my trainer? I am not really getting serious mileage/time on the bike, so I'm probably not putting a huge amount of stress on the wheel, but just the same.

You probably never want to inflate your front tire to 120psi, period. And also nah, you don’t need to care about front tire pressure on the trainer. You might lose a few watts to suspension, but lol.

Don't let it get too low if it's set up tubeless or you might end up KOMing on your floor.

In less upbeat news: Pour one out today for the Alpenrose Velodrome, home of track racing in Portland since 1967, and home to the best leg of the cross crusade. Damned shame. If you're near a velodrome, go use it. Support it. Enjoy it. Even the ones with great resilient communities aren't immune. Even if you don't race, once racing is a thing again go have a beer and hoot 'n' holler for the folks who do. It's the purest form of racing around, and surprisingly accessible as an in-person spectator sport.

However, as far as I can tell, they came with innertubes installed. What PSI should I be running innertube tires at? I've seen some GCN videos saying that lower pressures are apparently more efficient, but as I understand it you typically only run lower pressures in tubeless tires. I've been having an itch to buy some Aliexpress special or Light Bicycle carbon wheels-- and if I do that I think I'll buy the tubeless variety just for funsies. I gather you can still run an innertube in those wheels, anyway, so it seems like the obvious choice. Absolutely gorgeous! I can't tell from the earlier posts, but which model is that? It doesn't look like a Topstone to me? MetaJew fucked around with this message at 05:02 on Feb 24, 2021 |

Ratings on the sidewalls of tires are way way too high. Those pressures don’t seem crazy with tubes.

Tire max PSI ratings are meaningless. It's the PSI where a tire gets blown off the rim, divided by 2.
