Can confirm. Finally started it up after multiple recommends from this thread and it's incredible how it's already hit it's groove on episode 1.

For the record, it hasn’t. You think it has, but it gets crazy good towards the end of season 1 and just keeps building from there.

Is Before Ever After required viewing before starting the series or is that just the first handful of episodes combined into a movie?

It’s required. The show picks up from what happens in that. I skipped it because I didn’t know it existed and nothing made sense at all.

The songs in Hercules are so, so good. Gospel was an inspired choice of genre for a movie about a God, and Go the Distance is an incredibly strong song.

Your timestamp is late. The finale starts with Mufasa.

Which is also where "Go the distance" starts.

I havent seen Soul beyond the trailer, because the human designs are so repelling (lifelike skin-tones and features meshed with cartoonish proportions)and because I'm so over the trope where X is a mundane bureacracy (Monsters, The Brain, The Mexican Afterlife). Also Tina Fey does race comedy again.

In fact, Aladdin might be of "easterner" asian origin, it, ali baba, and sindbad aren't from the same places as the bulk of the stories. Sindbad features a repeat of the cyclops story in The Odyssey, and two of his seven voyages are his crew finding a giant egg, eating the bird inside, and being eaten by the returning gigantic mother bird

It does look like they just colored the manga panels, and slapped on mouth animations and a few SFX.

I know Netflix exclusives can look a lot better, and J.C Staff doesn't have the prestige it used to doesn't usually look this cheap.

what little staff information is out matches up with the Backstreet Girls adaptation from a couple years ago. so it seems like both shows weren't given a lot of resources and it's a team just trying to make that work, since the director is fairly established and has done perfectly good shows in the past (even with JC Staff).

Raya and the Last Dragon is getting super good reviews, currently 95% on RT with 79 reviews.

Also apprently it’s 1h54m long, which, is that the longest WDAS movie? What are the longest animated movies anyway? I know some anime films top 2 hours but I can’t think of any Disney or Pixar ones that do

I’m so excited but I may have to wait a week or so before I watch it because some friends are coming to visit the following weekend and they want to see it too

I know Princess Mononoke was the longest animated film for a long time, it was 2 hours and 14 minutes. But then the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya beat its record at an absurd 2 hours 44 minutes and nothing else has even come close since then.

I feel like most of this manga's key moments are all still shots of character reactions anyways, so it might not be terrible.

Adult Swim is doing a similar adaptation of Uzumaki. I've heard the full Uzumaki collected works of Junji Ito anime adaptation set a low bar with cheap animation and a general failure in understanding what make's Junji Ito's horror work in it's original format, so here's hoping.
