Its incredibly funny to me the tone Mike takes sometimes when he says "No", I know he doesn't mean it that way but it sounds like its dripping in utter disgust, I always follow it up in my head with ", you idiot". Its like that quiz bowl scene from Billy Madison irl

I also get irrationally annoyed when he adds in extra information about an answer, especially like when he basically explains the context of the clue. I do think Ken is miles better than him.

I think 'cathode=negative" because that's where cathode rays come from, which are electrons, which are negative. This is very concerning.

Not as off putting as Ken Jennings’ questioning lilt of “no...?” when people answer incorrectly, and all respect for him filling in as a host and as executive producer in general, but Alex didn’t make it sound condescending at all. Agreed that he’s got kinda the wrong persona as long term host unfortunately. I jumped to Shinzo Abe for Final for some reason (probably because I am a giant weeb, and the “let us in Abe!” meme my weeb friends who want to be able to go back to Japan sometime soon for concerts and the like when they’re being held again is floating around prominently in my mind, and he was the longest serving Japanese PM an in office during that time period before he recently resigned last year, but I don’t think he ever addressed Congress), my mind just skipped over the Middle East entirely, but Bibi (that rear end in a top hat) was obvious in hindsight. What an abysmal FJ clue. It feels like it's written in such a way that they can be like "haha see we said RIGHT UNTIL pei did the pyramid" but "to the 1980s" definitely feels like it should include Pei getting hired in 1983 for the job, if not starting construction in '84 or completing it in '89. Regardless I'm thrilled at the outcome but that one could have cooked in the writers room another 20 minutes.

Was not expecting that ending. Totally blanked on Final, I got the French connection but all I could think of was Notre Dame even if I knew it most likely wasn’t correct. Totally obvious after the reveal though.

I got it, but I'll admit it took me until a few seconds after the song ended; it would not have ended well if I was on that episode. How the LAWYER missed that first DD is just baffling, but at least when you find it that early it's almost meaningless. I don't think that category was very hard?  But that's me, maybe I pay more attention during the reading of the categories where they explain the gimmick. I feel like a lot of contestants don't and it often takes one failed clue to catch on. I just think the champ was not the greatest in the wordplay categories in general, and the other two contestants were mediocre at best.

I’ve noticed that Final categories have seemed to get oddly specific lately, but that just might be the writers trying to lay on some flare and not really hitting their mark. BOWS DO NOT EXPLODE, even in stupid movies!!! they've gone against more probable answers recently. The judging seems to be absolute shite these days.
