No one left uncured.
I got you.
Downloading saves from PS+ was weirdly janky for me, I tried to select all and download but it appeared to hang indefinitely on the subsequent screen. So I wound up doing them in batches by year, which worked a lot better. I suspect there's some internal inefficient fuckery that makes it choke on batches above a certain size. Other than that I found the full internet sync approach to PS4-5 migration painless.

(once again, I miss Xbox's approach to this stuff, which was to have your cloud storage appear as a selectable drive when you save a game, and sync and management is handled automatically in the background. I'm sure it has its own unique fuckups, though)

My molecule scrambler ray will disintegrate your armor with one blow!
Transfer all your saves to a usb stick, then just import from usb on the ps5

vvv: the usb method takes a few minutes, whereas I've heard that the console transfer even over Ethernet can take hours

That's what I was planning I just wondered if it would be easier to use the transfer system instead if it let me just transfer my saves.

the save transfer takes no time, the content (game install) transfer takes a bit though it wasn't too bad. def faster than the lovely connection i seem to always have to PSN.

Yes you can choose specifically to only transfer saves in the system transfer. That’s what I did

No prob! I moved all my PS4 games to an external drive and moved the saves over wifi in the system transfer and when I plugged the drive into my PS5 it Just Worked, I picked up Yakuza 4 right where I left off

Having locked down save files on modern consoles is one of the worst things ever and completely unnecessary.

I would imagine it's mostly to lockdown any kind of modding. I do remember when you could download saves from GameFAQs for like PS1 and PS2 games.

Intelligence Level 1 to 9 not slots available.
Intelligence Level 10 to 13 grants you 1 Slot
Intelligence Level 14 to 17 grants you 2 Slots
Intelligence Level 18 to 23 grants you 3 Slots
Intelligence Level 24 to 29 grants you 4 Slots
Intelligence Level 30 to 39 grants you 5 Slots
Intelligence Level 40 to 99 grants 6 Slots (it is the maximum slots available)

I mean, let's be honest, most people aren't paying for the cloud save system, they are paying for multiplayer and cloud saves are coming along for the ride. Cloud or external saves would be incredibly handy to have though even for the single player papers though.

Farewell, good Hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

I wasn’t much able to do it in dark souls 3, I’m not sure why, but in demon souls I had quite a bit of luck specc’ing into mostly melee damage but also pretty solid magic damage. Soul arrow or whatever it’s called, or fireball, could do a lot of damage to enemies at a distance. I just got the feeling demon souls weighted the magic attributes differently, or something. In DS3 it seemed like I couldn’t do any damage at all with magic unless I dumped a bunch of points into the attributes, but that’s hard to do when the game is really demanding you to keep leveling up the primary means of damage you’ve already sunk everything into. But, maybe it’s also that DS3 is built in a more nuanced way, so that if you’re ultimate goal is to use melee damage and magic side by side, you spec into one of the pyromancy type characters and use a intel/faith attuned weapon. I bet that ends up being pretty devastating.

I loved that about demon souls, sword and board but totally able to melt something with fire or blue energy blasts if I felt like it.

I mean, if you're a successful actress and you go out of the house in a skirt and without underwear, knowing that paparazzi are just waiting for opportunities like this and that it has happened many times before, then there's really nobody you can blame for it but yourself.
Low Dex/Str restricts your equipment options more than anything, really. Once you get yourself a decent Int-scaling weapon, your raw melee damage output at high Intelligence is fairly comparable to that of a Str/Dex character using the same weapon. Your biggest problem will be that you can only use a fairly small number of weapons at all, because you just can't afford to stat for both magic and the minimum requirements to wield something like a Zweihaender. Your second-biggest problem will be that all your damage is split between physical and magic damag types, so magic-resistant enemies are something you'll have some difficulty dealing with.

Other than that, though, a Sorcerer plays basically the same as a pure melee class most of the time. You'll still use your weapon 95% of the time and spells mostly as a "alright, you die now" situational nuke against enemies that are too dangerous to get into close combat with.

Demon's Souls is probably the most generalist-friendly of the series. The extreme swingy-ness of the way armor and damage reduction scale on enemies tends to favor split-damage weapons (i.e. Slash/fire, or pierce/magic, ect) that way if you hit an enemy that is all but immune to one type of damage (i.e. most of the enemies in world 2 being highly resistant to anything not-piercing or magic) you've got a fallback damage type to hit them with. You damage also tends not to scale quite as dramatically with your stats as it does in Dark Souls 1/3 so you're not as hard incentivized to say, bullrush 60 strength to swing the clubbiest of clubs.

Magic in Demons Souls is so loving op. You can have a magic character that can wipe half a bosses health bar in one cast that also hits like a truck with magic infused melee weapon. it's literally easy mode.

They got better with that kind of stuff over time imo. I'm not much of a "look at a guide for op builds" kind of player, I usually just pick a weapon that seems cool and make it work. But this time on my third run of DS3 I looked up the "best" builds and kind of specced to that and it's...fine. I decided to make a dex build with the sellsword twinblades, nicknamed the "sellsword winblades" and it's a very good build but only marginally better than something I'd have just done on my own. Lots of weapons feel equally viable with the best ones giving you a very slight edge. It's not ultimately that game changing. Which is good because you can roll with whatever gear you want except maybe super gimmicky stuff.
