This isn't "lost", in that I know what it is, but I haven't been able to find a clip of it for years. It's a sketch from the Cambridge Footlights Revue 1982, where Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson are doing a parody of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning in appalling accents. He asks her "Take my hand and walk with me to the window!" "But I am so desperately afraid..." "You must be straeung for me. Be straeung for me, Elizabeth." "Oh, but I am so desperately weak..." ET: "You mustn't speak so about him. Deddy is good and kind and fine..." SF: "But you're not going to marry Deddy, you're going to marry me!" This was its former resting place, RIP. http://web.archive.org/web/20110804140157/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB76snHr1S8 Ty

[...] the show is really a showcase for the 1981 ensemble: Fry, Laurie, [...] and Emma Thompson. It doesn't mention the Brownings, though it does list a Shakespearean acting class and maybe the reviewer misidentified it. But as a grain of salt: the review mentions that it's actually 10 minutes shorter than claimed, and that could be an oversight or poor estimate, or perhaps there was a last-minute removal of exactly what you were looking for. If a library near you has it to try first, or if you can find an indulgent smalltime ebay seller who'll look for you, it might put your mind at ease.

I've been searching for this for probably six months now to no avail, but it's worth one more shot. Trying desperately to find a music video featuring a bunch of adults arriving to a dance-off competition, where there are armed soldiers and a evil James bond looking villain viewing. Two people dance off and the loser is then executed. The main character is an Asian woman. It's probably less than five years old. I don't remember anything about the music itself, it was probably electronic though. Went on a drunk youtube rabbit hole ages ago, and if my gf didn't remember it too I would assume I made it up.

I love that the description of that says "Still holds up well today owing to a focus on silliness rather than satire" and the bit immediately after the sketch is a jaunty song about British fascism

Not exactly a white whale but something I came across recently that I’m having trouble finding again. Apparently there is a sex toy that converts the sound made by electric guitars or drums or something into vibrational gently caress-stimulation. Like a sybian/dildo/Lovense but with music. I don’t remember what it’s called except that it has a rhyming name, and I think there’s clips of it on xvideos. Does anyone know what I’m talking about here?

Are we allowed to request people search? There was a post that had a picture of some bay/waterway in new england and the poster was reminiscing about boating on a "catboat" which was a term I'd never heard before so it should be easy to find if you search for it. It was a nice picture. I figured it was the americana thread but I've given it a once over and no dice e: maybe it was some other type of small watercraft...

I've been searching for a good-quality VHS of Beezbo for years. I think they pop up on ebay every now and then. Would absolutely kill to have 2 copies, one for myself and one to send to Mike and Jay. As far as I know there is only a decade-old youtube of it, broken into several short chunks. This tape is a treasure that must never be lost to time.

It looks like the bot had an issue during archival, so it wasn't actually "saved". However it appears it's contained with a 25gb archive of a separate scrape that someone else did and uploaded. https://archive.org/details/archiveteam_tindeck_20180731095554 Grab either the torrent, or the 'web archive gz', and unpack. I'm not sure if the naming scheme will be retained or not, but I guess you'll find out when it's down downloading. It should be in that one, but I'm not 100% certain, and I apologize if I am incorrect.

Before I end up probably doxxing myself with the software name (because few companies are dumb enough to keep using it): any recommended resources to try and track down old (80s-90s) software documentation? Company in question folded decades ago but the software is still in use, with all of its documentation lost and the manuals we have effectively reverse-engineered from experimentation.

A YouTube video titled "a Dragon visits the Earth' or some such. Handheld footage of what looks like a Chinese Dragon, really far away "climbing" into the sky. It's less than a minute long and probably shot on a pre smartphone phone camera.

The results of the subsequent scrape, are here https://archive.org/details/archiveteam_tindeck I'm sorry that one wasn't right, 25gb is a waste of time and bandwidth. Unfortunately, it doesn't get any better because thats pretty much what the size of all 119 of them are. I couldn't download the file to check for or remove the mp3 for you because I live in a remote location and I don't exactly have stable or fast net at my disposal. *Edit: hold off on downloading anything, I have something I want to try checking to see if I can narrow down which one might have it a little better. goui is the unique identifier, and there is a hit for 2052, but i need to test the theory. kupachek fucked around with this message at 19:40 on Mar 25, 2021 |
