Shields: I do like the faster recharge rate on Vidar, but you can kinda use whatever.

Engines: This was the case pre-update and remains so.

Reactor: For context, I run Blackout Pulse/Shatter Burst/Seeker Volley. I might switch Shatter Burst for Particle Ram, but that wouldn't really affect my reactor choice. Also Zetki has the fire/electrical hazard auto-repair extras.

Starting out though, getting any Mk III gear is going to be the main focus. You can worry about optimizing later.

Ooh, I didn't realize the Zekti had three different options. I'll have to get a fire one, my existing one got converted to electric.

And yeah, that loadout is basically screaming Zekti MkIII to me. I'm doing Blackout/Tether/Seeker, so either works for me. I'll probably end up going Zekti if the shield boost doesn't do it for me.

Also, Cruising Speed seems like it's bugged. Rank 10 does literally nothing but cost more.

Been a while since I checked in, had some new questions:

1) I see there's a Nezha and Octavia Prime. Their sets are 50/80 plat on the market respectively. Nezha is my second favorite frame and Octavia is my favorite specter, should I go and buy them both? Are the prices expected to go drastically higher/lower in the immediate future? I've never spent money on this game buy I seem to have 1100 plat from hustling Warframe.market

2) Does the Octavia specter still play that awful default song or can I make her play my cool song yet?

3) I have a maxed Arcane Guardian and Magus Repair, I assume that still makes my Inaros laughably immortal?

4) Is there anything in the game that is a challenge yet? Last time I played I went months without dying to anything.

5) Is there any new cool storyline since the Chimera bit?

1. Up to you. Neither is vaulted yet, so prices are unlikely to go up any time soon.

2. Still the default.

3. Inaros is still Inaros, yes.

4. If you've completed the star chart, there's now the Steel Path, which is basically hard mode star chart (enemies are +100 levels from normal and much tougher health/armor-wise) with some unique rewards.

5. Some! Maybe not as much as everyone would have liked thanks to 2020, but the Deimos open world stuff is certainly neat. Might also be some other stuff like the Protea quest, depending on when you dropped off exactly.

Archwing hasn't managed to make a case for itself in the almost seven years it's existed in Warframe.

All they really have to do is make it so enemies affected by pocket sand have a 50% chance of becoming a sand shadow that lasts for 30s.

The rest of his kit still sucks but that's all I would need.

If Inaros dies in an arby they're doing something horribly wrong. Or at least they're not abusing Magus Repair because there's nothing in the game that can stop you from doing a full heal with that (except radiation status, but you'd have to somehow hit with a negator field to be affected by any status and then have the enemy nuke you in that same time frame... never happened to me)

I always thought the primary/secondary thing was a take on your standard FPS rifle/sidearm setup. It made more sense when it was stuff like the Braton and Lato, not so much now where you have dual SMGs like the Dual Stubbas and crazy poo poo like the Nukor in that slot.

Secondaries are genuinely good and competitive, but really need the prime mods to shine. Crit/hybrid in particular is great on secondaries because the crit mods for secondaries are like 2-3 times as good as the primary ones (counting the godawful shotgun CC mod blunderbuss)

Primed heated charge is both armor strip and DPS/DOT now. There are some guns you can straight up redeem putting a rank 8+ mod on. Hornet strike in turn is just better than serration, which in turn feeds back into boosting elementals.

Most of the prime secondaries are great (avoid semi autos unless you love carpal tunel), mara detron is great, almost any beam weapon is great(double plus if they auto-chain)

Which of the prime secondaries are your favorites? And mara detron is semi-auto.

Currently I'm using the proboscis cernos to proc and group with arcane blade charger and condition overload to finish anything left over. I like to leave proc'ing to primaries because, as you mentioned, the secondary primed mods are for crit builds (tomb/hay/splat supremacy). I realize nukor is a thing, but so is 300% melee damage on top of whatever you get from condition overload.

Ah. Sorry. By the semi auto jab I meant the ones with high rof that you can't hold the trigger down. Akjagara and boltos are the worst offenders. Detron's point and click.

Full disclosure: I'm high ranking, sometimes have rivens and use support arcanes. My casual isn't isn't your average casual.

Akarius is my lazymode homing rocket level clearer.
Mara detron is one of the hardest hitting guns in the game, and full radiation build chumps the index.
Ocucor with the backpack reloader exilus/synth mods. Used to be better before the arcane pistoleer nerf. Still good, just gotta melee now and again sometimes. Bugged with regards to hitting X on objectives/consoles making you reload (i wish i knew how to make that stop being a thing, it popped up a few patches ago and i have no idea what setting does it)
Kulstar. You can get it up to 5 shoots in a clip and the heat buffs were a blessing in disguise. Also primed fulmination. With enough multishot/rof it sounds like a popcorn maker with all the sub-bomblets. Technically has a manual airburst detonation but almost nobody is an airburst bratwurst and actually uses or even knows its a thing with that weapon.
Synoid Gammacor was a good standby. Still useful for energy giving. Low mr, somewhat trumped by later options. Very crit friendly but also poo poo tons of status because beam weapons.
Spira Prime. surprisingly hard hitting and crit friendly.
If I was a headshooting man(i'm not) i'd say aklex lex prime. Its plenty good, but i'm not that great at it.
Twin kohmak. Its one of the best bullet hoses after winning the status chance buff lottery. Also slash weighted for corpse chunking.
Pyrana prime. Similiar to kohmak, but crit weighted. Still useful, gimmick is funny in a crowded hallyway. Recoil exilus is mandatory
Any of the kitguns. Catchmoon in particular. Rattleguts is a stand-in for any bullet hose secondary; akstiletto/aksomati/kuva twin stubbas are all acceptable and simliliar.
Kuva nukor. There's a reason its well loved.
Atomos gets a special mention for being real tasty at its MR requirement.

I have a soft spot for the arca scisco but I wish its unscoped accuracy didn't have the sniper-rifle code thing where its inaccrate AF.

Worthy mentions: Akbronco with the staggering/instant finisher can be okay

edit: I should probably mention explosive weapons are sorta an exercise in frustration without knockback protection/status immune frmaes/primed sure footed, especially once you start adding on +blast radius. It is forever dumb that cautious shot isn't a 3 or 5 rank mod and that it doesn't make you ignore stagger when fully leveled. Maybe setup a on gauss/atlas/inaros with the 4 augment before picking up boomguns.

Pretty sure it's the secondaries that have been stronger then the primary guns for a long time now, primary only excel at big single target damage on enemies big enough that you can't melee them, but if it's just a regular tough eximus grunt then melee does far more damage faster in a bigger area, and secondaries are kings of crowd control with whatever is the current overpowered favorite, which currently has gone staticor > catchmoon > kuva nukor > future op secondary.

Unlike Path or Exile, the devs of Warframe did specifically OK the use of macros to help people with RSI (I think it was originally stemming from complaints about doing the helicopter whip spin move). I made a macro that holds and releases the Staticor so it rapid fires on the exact frame of every full charge, and stacked fire rate with a fire rate riven. It covers the whole screen in particle effects.

I'm a little pissed they nerfed both the fire rate riven for staticor, and the amount of particles it makes. This was my old build:

Well I've been getting some friends into the game and they seem to really be enjoying it. However the quest system is rear end for grouping up. We decided to get everyone through Howl of the Kubrow, and were having trouble figuring out where everyone was in the quest. I figured it would be easiest for me to replay the quest and bring everyone along. Turns out if you haven't set it as "active quest" or something in the codex that you don't get the rewards even if you do the missions, so we ended up having to do the whole thing like 3 times in a row.

Then something happened where the quest went inactive for someone for some reason so he was stuck at "incubate and mature a kubrow." even though he had already done that. Had to go back and reactivate the quest again, then got the final mission.

Also having seemingly random missions/quests be solo only is really annoying. I just want to get everyone (including myself) up through The War Within to unlock all that content but it's been way harder than it should be.

Anyway just so this post isn't whining I will say that I picked up Harrow to use as a support for my group and he is super fun so far. Not sure if I have the hang of the skill rotations yet but it feels good giving energy to everyone and locking groups down with his 1. My friends ended up dropping some money despite the issues so we now have Octavia, Nidus and Garuda in the team as well.

The old Grineer skirmish missions are still there and still pretty quick (especially relative to the Corpus stuff). There's still some on-foot stuff since they got rid of the nodes with no side objectives, but you actually get some okay rewards out of it.

Remember how all that wreckage you used to collect turned into dirac you couldn't do anything with because you already had everything you cared about maxed out? Well, now it turns into a massive pile of endo instead.

There is a "feature" in the corpus maps (Veil anyway) where the fighters and crewships keep spawning once you don't enter the final objective ground section. This along with NPC gunners outright murdering fighters, is a great way to stock up on scrap and mods for gearing up your railjack or turning into endo.
