I wonder if this is just Ramirez, or if this will be the party line now that Biden has given a press conference where he appeared to be some kind of mentally competent human being? I'm not sure "memorizing a number of pre-written responses and then adjusting to appear to fit reporters' questions" is as much of a sign of disability as Mikey R. would like it to be here.

I'm a mild stutterer. I don't have any particular fear of public speaking, (heck, I've done some community theatre) but I do rely heavily on giving myself some variety of script to work from, because I stutter less that way. I'm in the process of making myself a script for a presentation on Wednesday, actually. It gives me direction and flow, and if I do get stuck on a word, it's easier for me to pick up where I left off. Biden's stutter being made a point to show he's feeble minded or weak or otherwise incapable of public office? It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach, in a "is that how people see me" sort of way.

Basically the idea that antisemitism and other forms of prejudice are drummed up to distract from material issues by claiming it's all the fault of an easily identifiable Other who's hogging all the resources- welfare queens, dole bludgers, immigrants, etc- and you only need to get rid of them to suddenly have enough for everyone, rather than actually pay attention to capitalism and the inequality it causes. Though when you get down to it, TERFism ultimately comes down to gender essentialism and unreconstructed misogyny, patriarchy and associated attitudes. Could say a lot about performative signifiers and how it dovetails with liberal aspirations and credentialism, but a lot boils down to the core of the brainworms between white feminism being run by upper-class white women who are fuming that they never got their turn to own slaves, and men who think it'll get them laid.

The only legitimate takeaway from Biden's presser is 1) The Beltway media corps complained for months that HOW COME MEAN BIDEN NO DO PRESSER, UNLIKE MISTER TRUMP, WHO WAS FUNNY AND HAD GOOD TWEETS 2) Biden said fine, I'll do a presser 3) Biden came prepared to talk at length about Covid and the economy, you know, the two biggest pressing issues at current 4) Beltway media corps spent the entire presser asking nothing about those two topics and instead vapid palace-intrigue stuff If your takeaway is har dee har har Biden had a notecard, you're a hack with lips firmly affixed to the GOP's anus.
