Okami: I beat the Spider Queen and completed the first dungeon. Once everything clicked she was a fun boss fight and I like the vine transportation power and the extra purposes it's got. Then I reunited a little kid with his dog and taught him not to be afraid of failure :3:

I got an e-mail just now about Summer Game Fest coming back in June. Looks like E3 won't be happening again this year (no surprise there). Last years was pretty boring, every dev had to delay their games, so maybe this summer might be a bit more exciting, but I am not hopeful.

E3's trying to happen, they recently had to rebuff rumors that they wanted to make it PPV ($30 lolllll)

I mean, if you're a successful actress and you go out of the house in a skirt and without underwear, knowing that paparazzi are just waiting for opportunities like this and that it has happened many times before, then there's really nobody you can blame for it but yourself.

Farron Keep I get, because it's the obligatory swamp area and everyone hates those, but that's your problem with Road of Sacrifice? It's very straightforward and inoffensive.

To be fair, I've never really been into those either. To each their own, though.

Gaming conventions are a lot of fun. I always look forward to PAX West each year, and I was really sad that it was canceled last year with a really bad backup online only plan that didn't work out. It's a great chance to meet internet friends too.

E3 in the naughts was a legit cool, insider's good time. Lots of walk-up demos, few lines, big names cruising the show floor, and Kentia Hall was filled with crazy weird tech and hardware. E3 in the past 10 years has turned into a mass-consumption pop culture touchstone while at the same time online streaming has exploded so that has become the arena to capture so E3 The Event should just call it now.

I like the conferences but i think at this point everyone other than maybe Ubisoft has realised the Nintendo Direct thing of preparing a recorded set of announcements is smarter than an embarrassing live conference where you get messi to pretend he loves assassin's creed or w/e

I guess it sucks if you're co-oping. Souls needs more options for co-op IMO.

I do find the beginning of DS3 to be much less interesting than DS1 though, FWIW. With 2's beginning somewhat in the middle. 3 has some great zones for sure too though.

It would be nice if 3 had more early non-linearity beyond having to kill Dancer, but I guess you just have to git gud.

I reckon I don't need to explain the difference between the art of music performance and the business of marketing consumer products to other businesses, consumers, and media. I don't generally watch ads on purpose, let alone go out of my way physically to see them, so maybe I just can't appreciate the difference between watching an ad somewhere comfortable and watching one in a hazardous place that costs a lot of money to get to.

Last time I congregated near Gamers was launch night picking up a Switch, getting in line a little bit before they started selling em. Let me tell you, Gamers are just elitist pricks who are too good to talk to people who cant even get gold in Overwatch

i took my little sister once to sxsw gaming expo and my main lingering memory is the deep sadness I felt demoing "that dragon cancer." i think i have pin they gave me for demoing their buzzkill VR thing. on the bright side I hear they ruined their game by adding a bunch of tonally jarring minigames between moments of listening to parents inner monologues as a doctor tells them their kid dying

Also, conventions were fun in the '90's and early '00's because it was a great way to discover new things and get a few cool exclusives, but I only ever went to comic and sci fi cons. Since the age of YouTube I feel they're an unnecessary money sink and given the way a large number of every fandom acts I hope they continue to die in a post Covid world.
