It's actually weirder that it's not explicitly a porn game since those are allowed on Steam now.

Yea I have to admit I'm a bit addicted to House Party. Yea is a porn game and the point is to get bare with everyone, but there is so much stuff to do and interactions are pretty well written. The most interesting puzzle is how to get the MMA Straight Edge rear end in a top hat to let you get booze out of the cupboard.

Also the Game Grumps are in the game for some reason?

I looked into some stuff about Nebuchadnezzar, and they echo was the above goon was sayig about it, its old school in the bad way. The QOL improvements for games like that aren't implemented, maps are too cramped and you might as well grab Pharoh, Zues or Emperor from GoG if you want to play old school city builders that feel like its 1999.

They won a contest vote for who to add to the game. It's them and some other youtube/social media celeb that got added in a free expansion.

Yup. You can take pretty much everyone in the game to the bone zone. They intend to add a female player character at some point. It's kind of impressive, the developers legit seem focused on making a actual porn game that's worth playing.

I restarted and cleared the network cache and Steam started giving me an error: "could not connect to Steam network."
I tried launching into offline mode. Nothing. I tried all the other poo poo like adding firewall exceptions, resetting my network with ipconfig and netsh, restarting and reinstalling. Nothing. Deleting \package worked once, after which Steam would download the update and reconnect, but I would have to do so every time.
I finally deleted everything in the folder except steam.exe, \steamapps, and \userdata. Now Steam doesn't even download the latest update, it immediately spits out "NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET, FUCKO" and crashes.

Reading up more on this, the arcade machine is pretty late into the game. So there is some effort there. Hopefully fans can just strip out the files though and create a proper port that doesn't require Homefront Revolution to play.

My hot take is that Homefront Revolution is actually pretty fun and they commit to the silent protagonist bit way too hard, which makes certain story events incredibly funny, like when your guy is hyped up as being the one to cause this district to throw off it's shackles and rebel and he saunters up to the microphone and says nothing and everyone goes wild

Once upon a time I had the misfortune of having my ISP block access to Origin for no reason at all. I'd get similar problems to you, just couldn't connect. I forget the details but I found out it was not a problem on my end when I also failed to load the Origin website on a browser. You should try logging into the Steam website on a browser and then vote for my friend's CS GO team.

Failing that, try changing your DNS and see if that works. Google, OpenDNS both offer free dns services.

Yeah echoing all the Homefront Revolution praise. Got the GOTY edition a few years back for cheap and had a really good time with it - totally blew my admittedly minimal expectations away. The DLC were surprisingly enjoyable as well despite being more linear, they were each pretty distinct tonally and visually which was nice - as well as letting the main character finally speak which is always a bonus!

Game good :)

Fun Shoe
I'm assuming you also tried the -tcp shortcut that makes it use TCP to connect instead of UDP, since you mention all the other general networking tips related to the error.

The fact that Steam kinda works until it updates makes it sound like there's something wrong with your installation, not the network as such. You could rename your current Steam folder and just download and install Steam to a new folder, it won't have any of your user data at first, but you can easily copy that over from the original installation later. Also random, but did you error check your disk?

I'm a bit of a sucker for city builders so I got Nebuchadnezzar the moment it was released and I was kinda disappointed in it. It was 'old school' in the sense that everything was awkward for no reason, but the killer was the fact that the maps were so cramped and tiny. Not in a fun build your way around this site but in a 'why can't I just have 20 more tiles around the edges?'. When I got to map 6 I took one look at it and just turned the game off. I haven't even been tempted to play it again. Couple of days ago a patch dropped:

- enlarged mission 6 map
- enlarged mission 7 map
- enlarged mission 8 map
- enlarged mission 9 map

Makes me laugh. I wonder what kind of nightmare map 9 was if I thought 6 was a game killer.

I bought Nebuchadnezzar about two months ago and also gave up around mission 6. I came back to it in the 1.1 patch from this week and the freeplay mode is nice, but you're right that there is a lot of awkwardness in the game for no payoff. It's less supply chain management and more supply yard management, if that makes sense to anyone. You aren't innovating on basic materials, turning them from one item to another up some complicated supply chain. You're just ferrying items from manufacture to the market via supply yards. It tries so hard to mimic the aesthetic of Pharaoh and Caesar, but the lack of religion, military, social policies, natural disasters, seasonality, and even level variety is stark. Hell, they JUST added a finance menu. It feels like an early access game 10-12 months from launch. I guess the best thing you can say is that it was only $20.

Dune is supposed to come out this year, which makes me wonder if we'll see either a steam release of the older games, or maybe even a remastered version of them. I'm less excited for a newer one, though at least my fear of a bad Tell Tale Dune game won't happen.

After the poo poo storm that was Homefront: The Revolution's development, release and reception, it very much needs to stay dead for it's own good. When the Devs start the game with a letter wishing they had more time and resources, you know you're in for a rough ride. Still haven't played the dlc, which seemed to be better.
