lol i already have it, but haven't played it. dang. let this be a lesson: never buy a game until you want to play it. tbh i think i bought it bc i wanted to play it, and then by the time it downloaded i didn't have the time, and then went outside or something the next weekend when i had some video game time. so i guess try to predict your video game desires. but don't pre order ni no kuni because you "want to play it next week," because you'll probably change your mind and never get around to it, and then you've wasted $60. dang. it's a hard knock life folks

NoneMoreNegative posted:lol Limmy has just gotten started with No Mans Sky and lol haveblue posted:lucky the descriptions are loosely based on creature categories, so that might mean weird little hopping thumbs with razor teeth or flying fettuccini noodle centipedes they just added seasons which, if you've already completed the core quests, feels like a nice shakeup new game that randomizes you and your ship then drops you in a starter zone with game goals outside a quest line. its waaay less lonely since regular play normally requires you to get to the anomaly for user interaction and that could be a few hours in i stopped on a wrecked freighter i saw player symbols on, joined two travelers, and fought with our early level weapons to scrub out the acid spitting alien horrors which was a ton of fun

my group tried a season but since they directed the entire population of the game to the same starter system it had dozens of bases in it and ran like poo poo and constantly desynched and crashed

drat.  i got in during the first two days when it wasn't too bad, apparently. sharding would fix it, but that would defeat the work they've put into making the unified universe. rolling players into clusters of new systems would too, and that doesn't go against the intent of the mode so maybe they'll switch to that to spread the performance issues out morehigh pop systems have always, at least as I've known them, been janky. there's a few big user civilizations that run into things like the station npcs freezing, or loading lag for highly complex bases. its a whack-a-mole problem and i was hoping the season mode meant it was resolved or perhaps more stable I think each game mode is technically its own universe, though. like in permadeath i'd only see maybe two people in the player hub. that'd make sense because it's possible to accidentally (or intentionally, for pvp) kill a player and mixing modes would risk those playthroughs
