But he was whining that his dad was dunking on him for being an idiot and not realizing that holding your hands around/close to a thermometer is likely to warm it up due to your body heat.  Also a lot of teens with lovely, early 00s webcams showing how they could summon flame from their fingertips!!!!! even though you could see the hint of a lighter held behind their thumb or whatever. I feel like weird mysticism interests and predictably echo chambers that amplify them are just a thing a number of too-online teens go through, and grow out of. And I imagine there are a lot of trolls that play into it as well.
