In the NBA there is never a time where you don't take BPA.

Worry about the fit later.

Trade the worst player who doesn't fit with the better player. If they truly can't figure it out

But if they are good then they will likely figure it out.

Re: Cade and Edwards.

That'd be a perfect fit, and then Jettison Dlo into the sun.

Edwards is not a high level initiator. He'd be sick in that secondary role next to Cade.

Is this Heaven?
I think drafting for fit is underrated and why it's important to rank prospects in tiers, but not when it's someone like Cade who is basically a tier to himself. And yeah Edwards doesn't have the playmaking to be a primary like Cade does. Edwards is at his best taking a DHO and getting downhill as fast as possible if you let him dribble around too much he's usually going to take a lovely midrange jumper.

There is maybe an issue of what to do with Russell if you have those two but Russell isn't good enough to really try to build your draft around him. Ideally you'd probably trade him if you can get KAT on board and find someone to take that contract

Russell would be a fine enough 6th man if Towns must have his buddy on the team.

Expensive 6th man, but D'Lo has been kinda relishing his off-the-bench role. You gotta do something with Malik Beasley too since I don't think he can really guard the 3/4 in today's NBA but that probably isn't a hard move.

This is actually true. It is why Duncan left the coaching staff. He was disgusted they would do that to Pop.

That's the thing; they have completely poo poo the bed this season, often against presumably shittier teams, and then matched better teams step for step and then some.

Hornets actually finally clinched the play-in tonight, which is cool. Shame they’re petering out to end the season but LaMelo’s great, it seems like Miles and PJ can co-exist just fine and both are good, and their big gaping holes should be relatively easy to fix this summer. Dream season

Mavs v Nuggets would be a fun as hell round 1 series and I think the Mavs would have a real chance to advance. Blazers v Nuggets would be fun too, as already seen.

The Clippers aren't ready for Jalen "he's just a winner" Brunson. Didn't that team lose by more to the Mavs this year than any team's worst loss to anyone else?

I think he meant "of any team ever", but that was just how bad the Clippers lost the first half.

It was still the worst loss in Clippers franchise history. And we all know how prestigious and given to winning that franchise has been.

Here are our tank champions, all but Houston need to keep losing to secure their positions. I just went through their upcoming games to see which playoff teams play them, to see who'll have auto wins as the season closes and seeding finishes.

Houston plays LAL, LAC, and ATL
OKC plays UTA, LAC
Minnesota plays DEN, BOS, DAL
ORL plays ATL, PHI, PHI
CLE plays BOS, WSH, BKN
DET plays DEN, MIA

Denver gets 2, but they're chasing the Clippers who have 3.

2 for Atlanta, helping them keep the 4 seed with the same record Heat

One for the Lakers and One for Dallas, which negates the bump for LA.

Utah gets one which should keep them in the top seed in the west.

Boston gets two, which shouldn't be enough for them to leave the play in.

Dallas has one, they have the same record but lose on tiebreaks to portland who isn't getting one of these freebies, so that might matter.

Philly has 2, which means they probably won't lose the 1 seed.

Washington has one which is a small amount of help if they want to get homecourt for their 9/10 play in game.

Miami's tied with Atlanta and has one fewer gimme

I'm realizing now that Houston's games might not be auto losses as they gain nothing by losing. They're so bad that they may as well be auto losses.

Please, there's no way they'll win enough games to move up to the 6th seed.

They'll be the 8 seed after going 1-1 in the play-in and be against the Jazz in the first round for the wildest 1-8 series pairing ever.

Portland will probably lose their last three games cause the teams they’re playing want them to be in the playoffs.

That and the basketball gods have a sense of humor when it comes to the Clippers. A first round exit would just be too perfect.

It's banner night for the Lakers, this usually enrages the other team into playing good and makes the home team lazy so maybe Houston gets the upset.

--

People who were the lead ball handlers for the Lakers today:
Alex Caruso (hurt in the first quarter)
THT (Did his best but imagine being asked to run pick and roll with Andre Drummond)
Kyle Kuzma (The Jordan Clarkson method of ball handling but it was okay I guess)
KCP (uhhh let's pass the ball around the perimeter for 20 seconds I guess [Jeremy Lin method of ball handling])
Anthony Davis (such a disaster they dragged THT back in the game after 3 possessions)

LeBron is diving right back into the fire.

LeBron can go into cruise mode and just get some conditioning and the Lakers will likely win by at least 20.

Available to play against LA:

DJ Augustin
Anthony Lamb
Kenyon Martin Jr
Cameron Oliver
Kelly Olynyk
Jae'Sean Tate
Kevin Porter Jr
Khyri Thomas

Christian Wood, Daquan Jeffries and Danuel House are all questionable.

It would be nice if the Rockets could get a couple of wins after clinching the worst record, just so the fans can remember what wins are like, but that's not likely to happen with Kelly Olynyk leading a G-League lineup.
