I had no idea who Larry Summers was before a few weeks prior to the inauguration, but it is extremely funny to see him constantly trying to worm his way into the public discourse. It's also annoying seeing media outlets gladly giving him space to do that, and obscuring that it's always just him saying dumb poo poo.

Since California is already solidly blue, putting more progressives there doesn't help anything except for maybe some local races, since a Democratic presidential candidate getting a ton of popular votes in CA doesn't matter if the chuds win all of the flyover and battleground states.

There will cases from States trying make going put of states to buy a pack of condoms illegal to trying to give the death penalty to women who had a miscarriage. I find it hard to belive SCOTUS would do that to themselves.

You're assuming that a majority of the court either doesn't want those things to happen or feels that it is their responsibility to stop those things from happening. I don't know that either of those things are true. Somebody like Thomas would probably follow his philosophical commitments to the point of nuclear war or something because he believes that they determine his choices to the exclusion of whatever consequences they cause. Barrett probably doesn't mind chaos and death because forcing people to give birth is worth it to her.

This ruling, even in a worst case scenario, would not give states the power to ban people from buying condoms in other states. There are also already - legal - laws on the books that make intentionally killing a fetus through a miscarriage a crime.

That 1/6 Commission deal might be dead now. The Republican who voted with the Democrats to advance it out of committee was one of the 10 who voted for impeachment and it doesn't include a probe of the violence during the BLM protests last summer. Some Republicans are mad about that. It will pass the House, but several Republican Senators who previously supported a commission are now saying they will "wait to hear from" Trump on what to do.
