I had the unpleasant role of re-applying to Monotype to update their font server software, after 5 years.
From a team of up to 30 I wound up with a team of no more than 10.
"No way, you need to buy 30 seats to update" came the reply from their European masters .
We paid the bastards, something like 3000 euros, but don't do business with Monotype, OK?

24 hours post-jab and I feel like I've got a head cold and a mild hangover. The wife's a bit worse-off. My symptoms could be compounded by the fact that I'm transitioning back to a normal sleep schedule following a month of night shift.

7/10 would jab again.

Something kinda concerning; Those ICU cases are week-one infections. Typical progression is it's a coin-flip until the second week as to whether it's "just a bit flu-ey the entire time, mate" or "Crikey, I cant breathe!" :yikes:

It's concerning that the number of cases in ICU has increased from 3 to 5.

On the one hand this will definitely lead to even more cases and extend this outbreak for at least several more weeks, leading to longer restrictions and even greater disruptions to business and travel

On the other hand a whole lot of people had already bought tickets to the Sharks v Broncos match tomorrow so

I like how he gets to the right answer the completely wrong way. "We'd be doing a lot better if fewer people were walking around before testing positive", you say? Well maybe, just maybe, you should've told people awaiting a test to stay home and isolate instead of letting them roam free you idiot.

Friends of mine went to Adelaide this week and they reported that they had to isolate until they'd taken a covid test, then they were allowed to go out and mingle while they waited for their result

E: they decided to stay isolated until they got their results

This has always been the case though?

I registered as a close contact and I get a questionnaire texted to me everyday atm. Basically need to state that I am at home, isolating, and I am not feeling any symptoms - Also if I don't answer within 8 hours they'll send the cops around.
I was explicitly stated to me that I could be randomly door knocked to make sure I'm at home, and that I might also be asked to do video call to confirm as well.

I got tested earlier this week (had cold symptoms), and they told me to go home and isolate until I got my results back - they said it might take up to 72 hours because there's a surge (got them back slightly less than 24 hours).
Maybe it's different if you've got some symptoms, but I think it's more likely that people are being told (not forced) to isolate and just aren't.

Snowglobe of Doom

Yeah the advice in NSW is that if you've taken a test you need to isolate until you get the results: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/covid-19/Pages/frequently-asked-questions.aspx#4-1

The tweet was about people who'd been out in the community while they were in their contagious pre-symptomatic phase, once they started developing symptoms they would have gotten a test and then started self-isolating

The advice in SA is the same as NSW, isolate until you get your test back - https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/wps/...oafteryourtest4
Your friend's idea of "being allowed" to go out is likely that they were told to isolate.

Nope!

Any person (including Essential travellers, returning South Australian residents and people genuinely relocating, and people escaping Domestic Violence) arriving from Victoria (other than those who have been at a Tier 1 or Tier 2 exposure site at a relevant time) is permitted to enter South Australia but subject to modified Level 3 requirements:

- COVID-19 test on day 1
- Self-quarantine until undertaken the first COVID-19 test (do not need to wait for the result).
- No entry into high risk setting for 14 days after arrival, unless clause 9 applies.
- No entry to COVID Management Plan events >1000 for 14 days after arrival

Victorian Cross Border Community Members are permitted unrestricted entry into South Australia as long as they have not left the cross border corridor (70 km from the SA/Vic border) in the 14 days prior to their arrival in South Australia.
https://www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/restrictions-and-responsibilities/travel-restrictions

They've got different rules for people arriving from different states/territories/countries, and obviously the rules for SA residents who get tested are different as well

Fair enough.

However it's the only exception on that page - very specific circumstances, and they still have some restrictions. I'm surprised that the people testing them got the situation and didn't tell them to isolate like they would everyone else coming through. They'd also have only about 24 hours to cause spread. I don't think SA Health are being irresponsibly loose with restrictions.

Meanwhile, as I stood in line for 3 hours for testing, there was a middle aged man on the phone making plans to pick up some things on the way home after testing, a coughing old woman on the phone complaining that the GP had sent her there and wouldn't see her until she has a negative test even though it's 'sinus', and a clump of unrelated teens goofing around all over each other and discussing plans to meet up with some friends later. At least everyone had masks on. But I'm still rather annoyed with everyone in this area :argh: - the only people who can enforce the public health order are the cops (they don't care), and the businesses on their private property (they're more interested in getting away with as much as possible), which makes people really complacent.

This woman has been driven insane trying to buy a new hand held showerhead

My cheap ebay showerhead finally broke and I'm trying to find a new one which either has good water pressure or can be modified so it has good pressure. Yes, this is why my cheap one finally broke, I drilled out the "water saving" bit in the handle and put too much pressure through it. But it lasted over a year, which is good enough for something that only set me back $20.

Now, I'm on the hunt for a new one and went to Kogan to see what they had. Turns out, what they have is the same showerhead over and over, but with different prices.

Someone tell me what the difference is between all of these, beyond their price:

$82.79
$51.42
$51.20
$41.93
$49.76
$39.57
$17.28
$16.82
