Based on the screen display, and how it marks vehicles in other videos I’ve seen, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t see the motorcycle passing them toward the end of the 3/4 video either. So as another motorcyclist in Seattle…yikes.

There was a dude in the Roman Empire called Crassus who'd show up with his private fire brigade, and while your house burned he'd negotiate with you to buy it for a fraction of its value. If you refused, he'd let it burn.

Sounds like he would've done well in modern America

Maybe he'd have an app or something

something similar happened in 19th century america, but this is really not how fire departments work in contemporary america unless you've really got no idea how american government works (which, as demonstrated, is in no way an obstacle to proposing solutions to fix american government)

We've displaced heat by having products that burn at much lower temperatures and without oxygen. And without two sides that's just a line, straight up.

The Flock system is just an LPR system with some crap analytics attached to it. It does fairly good job with basic LPR, but that's a pretty well solved problem at this point. They add on trying to recognize the state a plate belongs to and that wasn't very accurate generally being right with 1 time in 10. The vehicle recognition was pretty spotty. They claim to be able to do make and model but that tends to be wildly hit or miss. The thing that gives HOAs a boner is you can set up hotlists or whitelists. (Their terms) So it's great for the Karen who wants to make sure to harass people's friends. It's $2,000 per camera per year for the Karen package and $2,500 per camera per year for the Cop version.

I've been think about writing a story about this, actors should be freaking the gently caress out because once deepfakes are good enough, there will be no need for new actors. We can just have boomer faves like 40 year old Harrison Ford and Warren Beatty starring in everything forever and paying a $250 day rate to a guy in a ping-pong ball suit to do the actual work.

Or worse, synthesized amalgams of the top ten hunks or leading ladies.

We have people paying for internet pogs in the form of NFTs out of some vague concept of uniqueness and authenticity, I think you're high if you believe people will want to see simulated actors on a wide scale. I see it maybe becoming a thing for cameos, but probably not for entire films.

NY recently passed a law requiring licensing from the estate for deep fakes of deceased actors who resided in NY. It was delayed a couple years because the MPA did not want it to be applied to actors who died prior to the passing of the law. California can't be far behind in passing one as well.
