Also, there's not really much for Gintama as a manga. Gintama works a lot better as anime because the staff's disposition for tossing in dumb rear end jokes about anime production about reusing the same background shot for a bunch of episodes, and the vocal talent helps to contribute to that, especially with Sugita as the lead. Gintama is also far more popular with women than men, which was probably harder for Viz to capture the audience for doing print in the 2000s.

Had hopes for Yasuke in that it would be about the historical person who was a black samurai and was excited when Nobunaga was introduced but then there was the werebear and the robot warrior and whelp. Apart from this, the show is good,right?

Yeah it takes a really loose interpretation of history, with ninjas and magic and robots and poo poo. I enjoyed it though, good action.

just got done reading chapter 1 of paru itagaki's new manga Sanda and i have about a million questions. iirc didn't beastars take like a dozen chapters to bother explaining basic worldbuilding information...? oh god what have i gotten myself into by choosing to follow this weekly? ostensibly it's gonna be about solving the mystery of a missing girl, but that plot point got introduced so suddenly near the end of the chapter and then the MC transformed into buff santa claus so i truly have no clue what to expect. edit: link to where i purchased the chapter Mr. Steak fucked around with this message at 13:28 on Jul 23, 2021 |
