Sopranos had some amazing episodes, but there was a lot of fluff and abandoned storylines due to how many episodes it had each season. Oz was more groundbreaking imo since it came first and pioneered the long-form drama where antiheroes rule, main characters die with new characters replacing them, and it’s peppered with lots of graphic violence, nudity, and sex. It’s dated now, and some of the storylines got really loving weird(there was a drug that turned you old?), but you see that same formula in basically every hbo show since then.
