Bair said people ought to read everything Stalin wrote before forming opinions about the man, whom he referred to as, "one of the great leaders of the 20th c[entury] though," he wrote.

The Twitter thread prompted a wave of mostly negative comments, with users evoking Stalin’s policies that have been blamed for causing the deaths of millions of people.

"While his statements and ideas may be unpopular or even controversial, his right to express himself is constitutionally protected," the college district's chancellor, Wolde-Ab Isaac, told Fox News, adding that Bair's comments "are his, and are not reflective of the general position or values of RCC and/or the district. RCCD and its leadership strongly supports and defends the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the rights of students, faculty, and all citizens to express their ideas and opinions in accordance with the laws of this great country."

Mary Figueroa, the president of the district's board of trustees, added: "We don't always agree with our faculty views, but they have that right to own it!"

Bair did not respond to Fox News' request for comment.

I think its hard for people in the modern day and age to understand the importance of extinguishing the bloodlines of royals and how much political meaning being a Romanov had to revanchists who would plunge Russia back into oppressive feudal hell
