In any laptop worth getting they sure aren't, at least as an only storage option. The hotness now are 256g m2 NVME drives. After formatting you've enough space for...windows, really

I play games a fair bit but I think my most played game is Xcom 2 which is at about 300 hours, and I feel a bit weird when I see that number.

I've a friend who's very much into team multiplayer FPS games. He's got something like 2000 hours in Hell Let Loose, a game that's only just left early access.

Even actual good and popular games that have been out to varying lengths effectively require SSD. Rdr2, wow, to name 2

Sadly due to game size creep and supply chains, im sure it's easier said than done. Glad I upgraded every HD I have to at least sata3 SSD right before the end times

lol
the difference between SC and games like RDR2 is even though you do need an SSD to run it WELL, it still runs fairly well on lower settings

I don't think the parameters of the discussion included that

As true as it may be

I also genuinely do not consider hard drive loading times to be playable in 2021. Maybe that's why I've got 62 minutes a week to play than the ever popular 15 itt

I like video games a lot, and I used to play them a lot more, but seems like a lot of these citizens really do stop working, plug into this “game” for six hours, than go to sleep. I don’t know how you can do that with a spouse, much less kids.

That always weirds me out. I always have to remember to give Windows test VMs four to five times the storage of Linux test VMs. And even my workstation that I've been using for 5 years now only uses 20GB for the OS.

I can understand that Winsxs is just going to grow infinitely forever and why it was done that way, but that doesn't account for many, many GB of of … what exactly?

Which means he played DOTA approximately 1/5th of the days after its release

There are 24 hours in a day, so the ratio is more like 10% of the person's life spent in Dota 2.

I had a friend in college who reached 100 days of /played in world of warcraft within the first year of the game launch, though, so I can believe it.

Considering how awful the collision detection is in this game, this will just make the characters' heads explode as each individual hair goes shooting off in a different direction.
