Was going to post about The Specialists, but clearly got beat lol.

There was an earlier mod that was similar but didn’t try all the bullet time stuff called The Opera that was OK, but Specialists was dope. Lots of cool maps, like the dojo from the matrix that when you went outside was just sitting on a little island in the middle of the huge white construct. Also the map with the house being built called Hammertime lol

when i was younger one of the few hl mods i played was half quake and it was really cool in capturing teenage nihilism even tho i thought it was too tryhard at times. i kinda wanna replay it

I hope they bring some of the old school amazing quake mods to the switch port. The only one I can remember is Zerstorer but there were loads I played back in the day.

from the sounds of things they're gonna add more mods to the console versions but they'll probably more modern ones since it'll be easier to contact everyone involved to get the appropriate permissions

I got a couple of ideas for maps based on past iz threads when I was brainstorming, I'm definitely gonna go through with at least one of them. Probably not the one with 2970 items in it. Someone should make a gaming dream map

i have idea for a couple of dreams but we could totally make a two parter if there were any you wanted. i just had a great idea for the devils bowel as a big finish and the rear ending the same car multiple times as a mid level set piece

I learned how to make a door so far. Baby steps lol

The idea I'm gonna go through with requires a starting room with 8 teleporters so I'm gonna learn those tomorrow.

mine involves an an expanding and evolving arena so seeing how doors work is kind of relieving

i would recommend UDB over DB2 - its basically an extended DB2 that still gets regular updates and support. DB2’s been discontinued

UDB has a buttload more buttons, dials, levers and pullies for building gzdoom levels, which could be a bit intimidating if you're going in brand new and wide-eyed, but i think a bunch of that is hidden if you're making a vanilla or boom map

also various under the hood changes that wouldn't be hugely interesting to anyone here but that ultimately make it work better

this doesn't seem to be documented anywhere for some hairbrained reason so here's a super-secret sneaky tip - if you hit ctrl+f9, you'll load into your map except your player start point is temporarily moved to where-ever on the map your mouse cursor is in the editor

very useful for jumping to specific points to test things

Teleporters were surprisingly simple. Tomorrow I'm gonna learn lifts and how to make ambush spawns

edit: kept going and learned line of sight ambush spawns...sick
