You can sit on one of the corners the photographers work and watch people understeer off the road all day. Luckily they're usually going slow enough the injuries are minor.

Just finished up a 4 day internet outage. Sure I could have picked up a modem from Best Buy, called support sooner - but it was a nice break. Somethings still not quite right (not enough channels bonding for our rated speed). Guess we'll find out if it stays stable, I kept the technician onsite visit scheduled just in case.

Been thinking a lot lately about selling off most of the cars that aren't getting driven often to fund one really fun car and a bunch of home projects. Sure I'd miss looking at them but due to health issues I've driven the E28 about 500 miles and the E30 zero miles since fall 2019.

This is not a position I envy at all. You have some absolute holy grail cars that don't appear to be coming back into the atmosphere any time soon. It seems like the saying of "if you are going to do it now is a good time" but you could have said that any time in the last five years and have been wrong. The health issues and not being able to use them is the biggest gut punch of all though, it sucks and I hope some of your treatment gets you in a place where you can enjoy your hobbies a bit more.

I have fleeting thoughts about selling the M3 from time to time but one drive will cure it. I also have been bolstered lately by hearing some car journalists talk wistfully about the E9X generation. Just the other week The Smoking Tire just said "The E92 M3 is the move right now," and that the basement on those cars has been set. As cool as the car is to drive now, I think in five or ten years time it will be infinitely cooler.

I sold my e92 335d two months ago when I moved and I miss it for real.

It was so great having a car that I could take out and enjoy on a sunny day with the pandemic in full swing last year (especially since most of the roads around me were clear towards the start of it).

Really looking forward to my next "fun" car and I today was the first day at a job in which I'll be making more than double my previous salary so I'm not really sure what to do with that. Since I found out I got the job I've started thinking differently about money and just want to save everything. Or at least I did until I saw a couple videos about the new 300z :(

I have always wanted an e30 because my mom had one when I was a really little kid. She had a black two door convertible 325i with an auto transmission. That and the Isuzu trooper were the two cars I learned to drive on as a teenager. I really hoped to inherit the e30 but then cash for clunkers happened and... yeah RIP.

If you're looking to sell the e30 in 6 months to a year please DM me because I will be in the position to take care of it financially and it has always been a dream of mine.

I can't even bring myself to post on any form of social media bout how loving dumb these people are because I know these people, in real life. Also, its getting harder to ignore my close friends (brothers) who are antivax.

I know these statements are totally obvious, but I just cant. do it anymore? I've complained about social media so much that I think I may have to really take a step back from it. I just cant handle these people.

This is a woeful time to be alive, but my jobs are flowing again, picked up 3 new clients in the last few weeks.. feeling somewhat normal again money wise.

The whole work from home thing is getting me down a bit as well, all those years sitting in an hour plus of traffic to go 12 miles was awful, but I took for granted that quiet time, time to listen to music and just sit with no screen, no one to bug me - I could explore the music catalogs of long fortotten artists who only old people listen to. I don't have that luxury of 100% peace and quiet anymore.

I'm really getting so exhausted about the COVID stuff everywhere that I cannot escape in the media, then I have to deal with fuckwit antivaxxers at work and I am starting to be in a constant state of irritation, which rubs off onto my underlings. I try to isolate myself away from everyone but that just means I'm then excluded from 'team' activities.

It's a sidestep as far as a job goes (delivery), but using their vehicle, full benefits from day 1, and pays more than what I made before. Normal person hours too - Mon-Fri starting at either 6 or 7 am.

It affected the entire building (23 or 24 apartments and 13 garages), so it wasn't just me. Possibly the next building too, I'm not sure how beefy the transformers are. The lineman was dicking around with the pad mount transformer for a good bit. Went to bed pretty early, woke up a bit ago and everything is fine now.

Just swapped a spare transformer to the alarm, that's working fine again. The Nest Hub seems to have come back too, after being left unplugged for awhile. So it looks like I'm only out the alarm clock, UPS, a 15 year old monitor that was already dying, and the network extender I have in the garage (and the apartment will have to replace the microwave and garage door opener). And a few light bulbs.

I've been going back and forth on it for probably months now. I have a feeling once I take them out for a drive I'll change my mind. I have considered selling the E30 for one that is race prepped, would get some cash in my pocket and I'd fulfill another dream of racing one. Plus ITBs into a carbon airbox on that engine is :sickos: The E92 is such a solid car, if I had the space I'd probably have one by now. I really thought about and almost went with an E92 over the Cayman.

I'm having some success talking with people in person. I live in two deeply-red states and think maybe I've found a key. See from what I've gathered everyone is getting tuned-up to look for "the enemy". All sides doesn't matter; they've all got a boogieman or two-dozen. You gotta sidestep that poo poo cause every side is conditioned to look for the boogieman and entrench into their pre-determined mindset. Twice now in the past three weeks though I've had conversations with perfect strangers where I've clearly rung a dude's bell a bit, and I know this because in both cases you could just feel that vibe and tension melt away from them, followed by silent contemplation. In any case the key is in how to you tell a person you identify "the enemy", and it's very easy to do. Everyone agrees the propaganda is bad and tearing us apart, but typically an entrenched person doesn't see the propaganda on their "side" as propaganda, and this is because they don't know what to look for. To give them that razor the answer is very simple because if you want to find the enemy it's very simple. The enemy divides us. Look for the messages that divide us. If it makes you laugh at an "other", or feel angry at them, or superior; that's the enemy's message. That's what they want, because if we're divided we're distracted. Perhaps it helps that I look like a red state redneck, but this message is working in the microcosm of my life.

It really is pretty shocking to meet a political mouth foamer in person. I legitimately feel really bad for them because I know it has to be miserable.

I try to keep my distance. Generally I just say something like "yeah that's crazy idk I might agree with you probably but also maybe not" and then change the subject. I have found great success with that if I'm being honest. At this point I just see it as a survival trait to keep the crazies away.

I saw a women get run over, literally, one morning, heading to the local commuter train. She was running for the train pulling in, apparently thinking it was leaving, and someone was driving in he drop off lane far too quickly, possibly for the same reason. Regardless, she didn't see the car, and the driver couldn't stop quickly enough. It was very much surreal, like you know this is a thing that happens, but it just doesn't seem real as it's happening. That its something that *shouldn't* happen. You expect maybe it should be more, I don't know, dramatic?
I was approaching from the parking lot myself. There was already a crown and plenty of people trying to help, so I just boarded the train, and went to work. I couldn't help any more than was being done, but still you feel like you did something wrong by continuing your day when someone possibly died right there. Knowing that people die every day doesn't help. I don't even know if she survived.
I do know remembering this prompts me to both be more careful driving and walking in parking lots and other mixed pedestrian/vehicle areas.
