Well there's just as good a chance he would have ended up dinner, especially since he was the only one of the hilariously inept group who appears to pose any kind of threat to the vampires in the house.

I wouldn’t say it sucks but it’s definitely the weakest season for me so far

Yeah, I'm also "enjoying it, but not as much."

I think the characters are too powerful now, to be honest. A big theme of the first two seasons was that all their vampiric powers didn't mean everything would just work out for them, especially when their inherent incompetence was also in play. Nandor couldn't become a citizen or get Doug Peterson to do anything but freak out, they gave Sean the brain scramblies accidentally, Laszlo fled to Pennsylvania rather than pay Jim the month's rent he skipped out on or participate in the duel he agreed to; they got their wins occasionally, but basically, anybody who tried to get the better of them — from the Vampiric Council down to Simon or the witches — had a good shot at doing so.

This season, everything just kinda works out for them. I appreciate there's only so far you can go with them being the butt of every joke, but them being in charge and seemingly semi-capable doesn't feel right for the characters. Which I suspect is why everyone seems to enjoy Laszlo even more this season, because he's ignoring that whole side of the plot and just loving around with his porn or his car or whatever Sean's doing that week.

Speaking of, I rewatched the Jim episode last night and I had completely forgotten that Laszlo mentions he never learned how to drive a car in it.

Could just be there's some prophecy that some the leader of the Council will get killed horribly this year, so they gave it to them just so no one else would get killed.

This season is good. That being said, it's less gag-heavy and more serialized than before. It's inching into sitcom territory, whereas before it leaned more into the mockumentary side of things. I can see it resonating with someone less, even if I don't mind the new direction.

This is pretty much it.

I'm enjoying the show, however it has a different vibe. The first couple of seasons we were learning lots about the characters, now it seems like they've all fallen into their tropes and we are now seeing the sitcom formula of what those characters would do in these situations, rather than their reactions to situations being how we are learning who the characters are.

I’m wondering how the vampire/real life actor thing works now. When the Vampiric Council met for the first time, they were first name only: Tilda, Evan, Danny, etc. you had plausible deniability that they weren’t meant to be the actors.

Then this season, Nandor explicitly says it was Wesley Snipes Skyping in on a laptop. And they called him a Daywalker in the earlier ep. So the actor Wesley Snipes played the Daywalker Blade and is a Daywalker in real life? How does it all intersect?! :psyduck:

Half of them probably aren't actually vampires but the real ones think they are since they same them do vampire stuff on film and how on Earth could you fake such a thing?

Didn't they try to get Banderas for the s2 finale but had to go with Jemaine instead?

And I know he filmed the recorded cameo this season but I don't think Taika Waititi has been that involved in the show post-season 1.

Huh, so the hellhound was indeed a hellhound after all. Guillermo really is special to just be able to tame it like that.

re: season quality, I still like it, but it does feel weaker. First two seasons had an overall storyline and were going somewhere even if it was something that was in the background for the most part compared to all the jokes. Now it feels like a monster of the week thing. It's cool the Baron is back and surprisingly jolly, we got to see Derek again after being left in the disco vampire's house, but Guillermo is still around because he's a main character, not because he's got any reason to be here. Some of the jokes this season are kinda corny and random by comparison too. The only episode I can say left a bland taste in my mouth was the Gail thing.

I’m feeling this to. Actors are all great and stuff, but nothing feels new. The writing just feels like it’s retreading a lot of the same jokes, etc that we’ve already seen.

I mean I enjoy it and it’s funny but it’s easily the weakest season so far.
