Fun reminder not at all related to any sort of discussion here: famines in the age of the industrial revolution are due to a failure of allocation, not a failure of supply.

If there is any stress on the food supply anywhere, it won't be because there's *no food*, it'll be because of artificial scarcities or logistics failures. That in mind and looking at our reality, well.

I remember reading a thing about gun purchase records explicitly not being centralized or computerized, so trying to look up a serial number involves either hoping one of the local stores remembers the purchase and still has the paperwork on hand or someone literally searching through boxes in a warehouse. Rich dipshits are always trying to get anchorages moved or complaining about terminals.

it’s kindof of funny because the money involved in ports is so so much more than basically nearly any single rich gently caress has. they wail and gnash their teeth and just lose the fight over and over.

Long Beach and LA are basically the same port, they should be combined the same way they combined NJ and NY, but it would wreck the scale. LA accounts for like 2/3rds of all shipping traffic

The rail situation is South Florida sucks. There's barely anything out of the port.
