They removed the ability to littlebird passengers to use their gadgets, which nerfed the littlebirds into no longer being the single most powerful vehicle in the game, able to take on land, sea, and air simultaneously. They're still good, mind you.

All vehicles. Can't use any lock on launchers when riding any vehicle, rep tools are still usable but littlebirds are no longer the god kings of the whole game.

As for the bugs: because it was inevitable that the beta would throw up things they hadn’t caught yet, and reprioritise ones they already knew about. It can be an old build and still have relevant bugs.

What if Portal allowed us to play the new maps with the old class system from 4? Dice nerfed some of that to pieces by now but might be fun.

The best part is that you could get ammo crates stuck on them so it wasn't just 2 extra missile launchers, it was 2 extra missile launchers with INFINITE AMMO.

It turns out trying to 3d render an entire map is not only a bad UI, but also bad for performance. Who knew?

I wonder why they chose BF3 and not 4 for the portal. I always thought 4 had better class balance with the carbines being all class. Though I suppose the DMRs weren’t great. Maybe they want to hold off on adding China until they can get things cleared with the legal dept, though it’s not like they have every bf1942 faction either

Charles 1998 posted:The fact that it didn't even last to the game's release speaks volumes. The beta was branched off from the main build in august. so we got a build that was 2 months older than 'main' one. and it had all these problems in it, some of which they addressed up front like VOIP and BIGMAP and commorose. and then they have to announce after the beta that some but not all of the known and uncovered-during-the-beta issues are not going to be fixed for day 1 release. in a build that is supposedly 2 months ahead of the beta. i think its worth noting that Need for Speed Heat was built on frostbite and had cross platform support patched in about a year ago with its final update patch. cross platform works fine gameplay-wise but VOIP for me on xbox playing with a friend on PS4 was woeful. it was stuttering like mad when he talked to me, but not me to him he said. neither of us have issues in other cross platform games either. the fact that a current iteration of frostbite engine has been in the wild supporting VOIP for over a year now (janky but quite possibly isolated to my specific experience!) is kind of worrying if they apparently still have not got it working 100% in their current build of 2042. and lol BIGMAP/controller layout/controls all being half baked. this is a pay to play beta for the first 6 months minimum.

Im kinda happy to find out that the controller layout was just missing because i honestly thought i was just incompetent and unable to find it. I was like "what sort of game doesnt have a loving list of assigned buttons! It just says LEGACY but gives no indication what that means! This game cant be that dumb."
