In all seriousness you've heard it before because it's Matthew Mercer, who is in loving everything. I like his Jotaro a lot, but whatever.

Actually thats probably it, I've heard that guy way too much. He's not bad, just sounds too familiar.

Matt Mercer was such a good stand in for Troy Baker he did the same to anime dubbing that Baker did to AAA videogames

Matt Mercer wasn't quite so prolific when he first started playing Jotaro.

The only thing I thought was the ora ora at the end sounded kinda weak. Otherwise, everything seemed fine.

Started watching Jojo for the first time last week. Previous to this my only knowledge was the ZA WARUDO memes.

I'm already on the second season and while I like the format of jumping through generations there is also a certain sadness to it since characters that I grow attached to like Speedwagon, Lisa Lisa or the nazi cyborg inevitable eventually die off :(

I prefer the binge style of dropping episodes because then I can watch them at whatever pace I want. Personally I think it sucks to try and force everyone else to watch things however you watch them because of arbitrary rear end community engagement or whatever; it's not everyone else's fault that you can't stop yourself from watching every episode at once if you don't like to do that, or don't want to bother trying to talk about episodes at a slower pace.

But if they didn't die off then how would you have room in your life for more great characters?

The point is you can't talk about episodes at a slower pace because everyone's at a different place and half the people will have binged all of them in the first 24 hours. When a single episode drops weekly that gives everyone a week to chat about each one and get hype for the next, it's a nice communal experience that doesn't happen with season drops

It's the kind of thing that's better off imagined than shown. After all, who knows if anyone could properly depict a force strong enough to destroy German Science, well known to be the best in the world.

I enjoyed Golden Wind a lot more on the rewatch. When I first heard the premise I thought it was going to be a very different mob drama (with stand fights) than it turned out to be and all the secondary leads being introduced in one scene as antagonistic idiots and jerks wasn't the best first impression.

On the rewatch, though knowing who everyone is from the moment you see them, it all just works.

It is funny how one episode if DIU had more and better food porn than the entire series set in Italy.

Also I completely forgot about the alien induced body horror subplot right at the end. That was weird.

Not sure how I'm feeling about the Hamon sidelining, unless it makes a comeback later on the story. I think I'd have liked it more if Stands were an evolution of Hamon, like "learn to control your inner energy and manifest it as a Stand" or sth.

That was the original concept, actually. And, in all honesty, the powers are both fairly adjacent in terms of being life energy related.

Gotta agree on this one. Jotaro still hasn't shown much personality to grow on me.

I'm currently on the episode after Joseph fights Empress. Kinda slow on the watch because I'm only watching 1 or 2 episodes while on the treadmill since they are 20-25 minutes long and they go by fast so I use them as measurement instead of constantly looking at the timer.

Plus I figured that working out while watching Jojo was the correct way to watch it :colbert:

Jotaro sadly doesn't grow a personality until he stops being a main character (not sure if this deserves spoiler tags but just in case since you haven't reached this point). Once he does he's actually quite enjoyable, but as a lead he's the second worst for me, only beaten by Giorno, and the story focuses on Jotaro way harder than it does on Giorno.

Why does everyone think I'm going to get in trouble?

Hamon was fine but after Joseph, its hard to see what else you could do with it because he was so creative in its application, plus it was only effective against vampires and pillar men and it was definitely the right move to pick a new power concept that was a lot more general purpose while also allowing for tons and tons of creativity. Part 3 takes a while for Araki to find his footing with stands, but once he does (maybe around the halfway point, when they hit Egypt?), you are in for a treat.

Hamon was far too vague to last. The best stands are the ones with well defined rules for their powers, and hamon was always just "it does whatever the plot needs it to".

I like Jotaro read through the context that he's a 17 year old who sucks, who is desperately trying to hide the fact that he's a sucky 17 year old.

Hence him becoming a lot more likable when he's older and not a gross rear end 17 year old hiding from his dad issues and insecurities.

Anyway, Josuke best boy.

Stares intently at Gold Experience.

EDIT: This is a legit good point though, the best stands are ones with really clearly defined powersets that everyone has to try and think their ways around.

Jotaro's stoic silentness is mostly not very interesting but it is used to good effect in a few arcs (eg D'Arby, Steely Dan).

I definitely think that, while Jotaro and Giorno are both :geno: personified, Jotaro gets more entertaining moments where you see the veneer crack, whether it's him sharing a laugh with his friends in The Sun arc or just getting really pissed at DIO for being a humongous dick.

With Giorno, it's weird because he goes from being fairly emotive at the start to being increasingly stoic and interacting less with people around him (Trish) as the part goes on.

Jotaro was only interesting in a couple standout arcs in Part 3 for me like D'Arby the Gambler, but Part 4 retroactively made him interesting.
