This is amazing. Thank you.

AA is pretty janky and hopefully polished at some point. Once someone fires flares, there's an awkward period of time where no flares are present but you still can't lock on. If you keep your AA pointed at the chopper during that period it will immediately be locked on when that period of time ends. Same with the anti-vehicle nades.

Anybody know what is the key bind for descend in the drone? I had this issue in the beta and never bothered looking into it. It just shows as <unassigned> in the onscreen tip, while ascend is space. I tried looking in the vehicle key binds but nothing seemed clear to me. Also, the EMP part of the drone just does not work at all for me. I'm pretty sure it worked just fine in the beta.

It's my crouch/prone button. To EMP you have to be in range, hold right click to lock then left click to fire.

As far as vehicle variety, pretty sure this has more than other Battlefields (15 or so?) . Also not sure if any Battlefield game has ever launched with more than two factions. The guns are an issue right now since really only 3 are viable, the SMGs, DMRs and snipers though the auto shotty seems cool.

goofed around with settings and got myself to a nice steady ~40fps at 1440p, which is about the point at which games feel good and I can't blame losing engagements to low fps. that's on a gtx 1060 and a ryzen 5 3600 6-core, so I'm really glad I didn't have to upgrade anything quite yet. having a lot of fun but still learning the maps. I think I'll feel better about my performance once I learn which areas to stick to as infantry vs where I gotta be rolling in armor to make a difference.

edit: oh hey question, does anyone know if there's a way to make the fire select indicator show up all the time or in a way other than ADSing? I switch modes a lot depending on engagement range and it kills me not being able to see at a glance

It seems to me like this game got hosed super hard by covid and they needed another six months to flesh it out. A lot of stuff, like the UI for instance, seems half baked.

I want my telescopic BAR back! :bahgawd:

I will say one thing I want to praise :dice: on is giving breakthrough and the game a good element of world building and (kind of story) and also when troops arrive and the mission objectives beyond just take A. I'd legit read a book of the lore for the game (like the stuff on the images) and I think it's help what sets Breakthrough, like Operations before it, into what I call narrative MP. Like I dunno, but having that instead of only TDM, is just far more enjoyable to me. It's like having a reason to go from A to B really helps a lot and unlike Conquest (which is still really fun) it's forward progression vs all over the place.

I kind of want to know more about this world. Also because I'm sure some of the bullshit that helps set things up might make Infinity Ward look like master writers, not that I'd care mind you as I do love trash.

This has been a thing since at least BF3. The extra XP is only for headshot kills afaik. So whatever the distance of the shot is in meters, you'll get that much more XP for the kill.

Do you mind posting your settings? I'm using an RX 5700 XT and a Core i7-9850H and struggling to get 30fps consistently at Medium settings at 1920x1080. The GPU is an eGPU over Thunderbolt, but that normally has ~5% impact on fps.

Also on this, if you're getting to 15 by counting faction specific vehicles like (ie Apache vs Super Hokum or SU-57 vs F-35) than BF4 had over 30 at launch.

I am not counting anything, just going by memory, if I am wrong again, so be it, it just seems like a lot of vehicles. At the start of the game each team can spawn like 20 so it's quite the sight, so I guess I take issue with not having a lot of content. This game is a lot of things, but it doesn't lack content.

Edit: I feel like maybe I am less bothered by bugs since the game I mainly play is Hell Let Loose and has far more bugs than this game will ever have. I was initially bothered by how the game played in the beta and turns out I like it I guess.

The story here, whatever it is, feels kind of icky to me - the US and Russia fighting over fossil fuels in various other countries which have been ravaged by climate change and reduced to mere set dressing is a bit worse than the usual chauvinism of this series, especially the bits about ongoing famine. I guess it’s some kind of separate timeline though

I much prefer my interpretation that these are ageless clones fighting an eternal battle and that’s why they’ve lost access to thermal vision and most guns that existed in previous iterations

Sounds like BF2 really, where it was the US invading China and the middle east over oil fields and power plants. But that was consigned purely to loading screen text, there weren't any CG story videos or anything.

5800X, 32GB (3200Mhz) with a RX 5700XT. 60-100FPS at 1440p. Mostly medium-low. (I can put the settings higher but i prefer the cleaner look than fidelity).

You should try Hell Let Loose if you want to actually have some cool battles from WW2 with some great map recreation and with less arcadey BF stuff. It's a really amazing game. BF1 never felt like a WW1 game to be honest.

HLL is really good. It's a great balance between Squad/RO style slow-paced gameplay and BF arcadey stuff. Really excellent, satisfying gunplay too.

Honestly BF3 and BF4 did have some cool rear end single player missions (actually most of BF3), but the stories as a whole were....eh not great in the logic or originality area.

It's all about positioning, Once you know the maps it isn't like this at all, especially if you have a good squad. If you're getting killed from a sniper you can't see, adjust and find him.
