Lake of Methane posted:I have a 15 year old sarnsung TV that suits my needs; do all new TVs look like a Windows phone? my samsung tvs just show what comes from the hdmi cable i dont understand why people run the apps stuff,. just pick a HDMI input and do everything thru an apple tv or w/e you like best. with samsung it takes like 2 settings to a) get the smart poo poo turned off and b) minimize the input selector on startup to just the default hdmi input or w/e i forget because its so easy to do i never really payed attention boom, non-smart tvs

i use the tv apps when i want to watch hdr footage beacuse I dont have an hdr capable gpu and i probably wont get one for a while lol e: why would i add another needless component (the apple tv)???

seriously, it's absolutely trivial to just never use the smart apps and never connect it to the internet, at which point it's exactly like using any tv from the last 15 years.
