Leafs are over the cap and he doesn't have a pro contract. DOPS suspensions still count against the cap.

They'll probably make other roster moves too. It is kind of funny that Dermott didn't play last night and the remaining slow rear end D got torched repeatedly but I guess that problem is also being solved.

The Spezza hit reminds me of the Kadri suspension in the first Boston series because it’s absolutely a revenge-motivated move to light a guy up but the guy also falls, so instead of a common bit of hockey violence that may or may not be called it became attempted murder. But Pionk also took a run at Marner after he scored an empty netter last season so gently caress that guy, if you’re always “late” or “just missing” dangerous open ice checks then you shouldn’t make them

The one somewhat charitable thing I can say about Canucks' management and ownership is that they are concerned about tarnishing their brand (well, from things other than being dogshit at hockey, they didn't care about that at all) Their anthem singer was publicly dumped as soon as he took to Twitter with anti-vax nonsense; when the Virtanen news came out he was booted off the team and management hid in a cave until it blew over. I would be very, very surprised if they hired Bergevin. And I'd also be done done for real with this team.
