We should almost make a pool just for the group stage games to see who gets closest to predicting the scores. Prize could be a hat from the worst NHL team (in the standings) at the break.

Marner and Sandin to IR, Alex Steeves and Kristians Rubins called up Steeves is interesting, he showed well during the prospect tourney and camp but he’s also a relatively mature first-year guy who you’d expect to be trying a little harder/have more advantages than the field. That the Leafs are calling him up would indicate that he’s shown something in the AHL worth looking at and his numbers are ok. Rubins is filler, the Leafs D corps looks mighty shaky without Sandin. If only Pionk would have taken out Holl instead (actually impossible, Holl doesn’t have the mobility to cause a guy to stick out his knee).

Based on schedule, the best case scenario for China is for Canada to beat the US in their game so they don’t need to worry about goals. The US plays China before the Canada game so they’ll need to pump China just in case.
