Yeah, this. I thought 128 was fine for Conquest on the big ol maps where everyone is spread out.

I don't like the hero system because I literally only play angel, since there's no other way to give yourself armor between every engagement aside from wasting your gadget slot on the armor plate. A squirrel suit or sentry gun would be nice, but I feel like that 20 points of armor is the deciding factor so often when I can't avoid a fair 1 v 1 infantry shootout.

Armor shouldn't straight up exist in Battlefield.

Does Casper's drone do anything against insertion beacons? Like I hope it at least jams it for 5 seconds but like most else, there's zero feedback on what's happening.

Same. Breakthrough 128 is a mixed bag, but conquest felt straight up better on 64.

Angel and Sundance are the OP specialists, I think. With the wingsuit, Sundance would still be a solid pick even without her extra grenades, which could probably be used to buff a weaker specialist like Dozer maybe.

Angel getting the loadout crate is honestly enough. Unlimited gadget ammo, the ability to switch loadouts on the fly, and crushing snipers on your own team is plenty for one specialist. He would be a great engineer. That he is a medic for non-squaddies and rezzes with 20 armor is almost too much.

My issue is and has always been the UI. Sure I know angel can give me ammo, but the UI doesn't tell you that that Boris has an ammo crate etc etc.
In all previous games you could glance at the icons of your squad and instantly know what you needed to bring to balance it out. That's gone, and the game suffers for it.

It absolutely does. Once you are below 50% ammo, you see the icon above the heads of teammates who have an ammo box. Same for when you are below 50% hp and there are people nearby with a medkit.

I am 95% sure that you also see people who need ammo / health if you have the respective crate because they have the same icon but it's flashing over their head.

yep, this was from a recent patch. to be honest i think it clutters the screen a bit too much and wish they were minimap icons

yeah I think they could easily give Angel's rez ability to someone else and he would remain high tier

I mean I play Battlefield too but not because "it has a class system". It still has big open maps, combined arms warfare and whatever else people think is a "Battlefield" experience. It's just different than before but it's easily still Battlefield just like the games before it and it still does a lot differently than other games do.

Dice has done so many other incredibly harmful decisions for the game that just make the game absolutely infuriating to play when the performance issues, lack of polish, rushed release or whatever hits me and removing the class system is like nothing to me compared to those. I really don't care, I just want the game to work and have better or varied maps.

This is almost exactly how I feel. The specialists are kinda lame, but in the grand scheme of things they don't really bother me that much. It's the lack of maps (portal maps don't count, I bought 2042 to play 2042) and missing features/ quality of life regressions from BF1 & BF5 that annoy me.

Even after all that, it's still Battlefield. That's what the game has going for it - there is no other game like BF.

That's because flashing ammo/ammo icons were exactly that in all previous entries when you were carrying health or ammo

It's both. If you have ammo / heath you'll see who needs it. If you don't have ammo / health, you see who can give it to you. It's a nice feature, but they never really communicated that it works that way.

People who could use ammo have a white outline when you switch to Angel's gadget; same with Falk when you switch to the healing gun. But if you're playing Angel and not randomly hucking ammo bags at everyone you see anyway you're not playing right

I like to play as Falck with ammo boxes and just play resupply medic. It's a shame that heals and resupplies only give a paltry 5XP. Also weirdly, the ammo box doesn't seem to resupply underslung grenades for some reason unless I'm not waiting around long enough. I feel like it should resupply them at the rate of regular grenades.

I think the white outline actually means you are "locked on" to that person and the ammo will fly to them if you hit the trigger.

I'm guessing you need the ammo crate, not pouch, for the grenades. And at a crate, you have to pull open the menu on it and it should fill all your explody poo poo up. Or at least that's what it does for my M5s anyway.

using the specialist abilities well can be worth much more than 20 points of armor (e.g. seeing people through walls or smoke with boris or paik, putting up cover to save yourself almost instantly as irish, getting high ground + ads speed as mackay)

angel's kit can be shared with the other teammates in theory

Yeah, ran up against someone that was using Rao super effectively to keep my transport chopper from murdering infantry at a point, someone else on their team was trying to AA at the same time forcing me to make a somewhat hasty retreat and drop troops off from a bit of a distance/cover.

I should try some over the other support specialists, since they can offer a lot to the the team. Boris would probably be a good fit since I like to defend, losing the rez/heal will suck but I'm sure I can find a niche. Mostly have bounced off the so-called assault specialists since they seem much more geared towards lone-wolf/less team oriented play styles than I care for.

well a huge problem is there's no voice so squads are naturally not going to coordinate

grappling or wingsuiting onto a high point/flank can provide tremendous squad/team utility especially if you beacon it

boris can be used offensively

place his turret safely from behind cover or from inside a smoke and get really unfair dueling advantages from wallhacking people

if your turret is getting smashed and you want it back before 30s you can grab it and place it back down at full health again

EMERGENCY POWER TO PARTY
I have more time in Boris than any other specialist. Yes, it's frustrating when the enemy instantly pops your sentry gun, but it doesn't seem to happen all that often. I find that hostiles ignore my sentry gun as often as not, to their detriment.

If you're trying to use the turret as a spotter in open areas, drop it in or near concealing cover such as trees, or between large pieces of cover that conceal it from attack your flank while still getting as wide a FOV of the target area as you can. Use it in combination with proximity grenades; prox grenades seem to help the turret lock on (and thus reveal enemies through the wallhack) faster.

In confined areas, I often drop the turret whenever I'm about to go around a corner that I'm not sure is clear. If the turret dies, it's time to melt back and let someone with flanking capabilities deal with that problem. (HIghlight the problem with map markers and prox grenade if you have one.)

smoke is very strong advice too yes

i do find that if i pick up a damaged turret it doesn't always seem to regen to full health, at least not instantly (and often not at all)

The gun pops itself, and/or refuses to engage an enemy who walks right past it and then looks at it in confusion, incredibly often.

To be very clear: It's often not actually taking damage, it just explodes on its own in the middle of clear terrain with no enemies around.
