because it’s too big, you end up with one of those comical massive desk calculators for retirees. you have a weather widget. that’s the correct size. but widgets aren’t interactive any more so there’s no way to do a calculator widget. their hands are tied, lol

i’d put money on the idea that they’re going to genericise iPadOS 15’s quick note feature into a more general “desk accessory” app category, an interactive low impact app that can instantly launch and multitask along with the rest of apps and can access the context from which it is summoned. maybe they make it an opt-out checkbox for iPhone apps to be listed as desk accessories or something, just like i(Pad)?OS support on macOS

apple should just buy pcalc

maybe look at volumio or moode? no clue what their mac support is like

will look into these, thanks

still trucking along with iTunes just fine. use XLD for ripping and encoding though, the multi core support is great.

oh wow look at that, program that sucks never gets any improvements or fixes, lets just rewrite it and reinvent the wheel again. oh its not feature complete yet but we will do that after we ship.

I like Overcast. I especially like the Smart Speed option for news and discussion podcasts since it can trim down on long pauses but doesn't make everyone talk at hyper speed (i also use custom playback speeds)

CD ripping crew checking in. I even rip them to FLAC so that when iTunes messes up the mp3 for whatever reason, I don’t have to get the disk back out to rip it again.

pocket casts or overcast. pocket casts has a nicer interface imo but overcast seems to buffer more quickly. they're both free so try em and i think you can export/import your subscriptions between them

i use a windows store app called grover pro i paid $2 for back when i had a windows phone cause it syncs prodcasts/progress. theres a free version called grover podcast that's the same thing but doesnt do sync. you should give that a try and see if it works better for you.

actually they should do what Microsoft did in windows 8 or whatever and force people to only write SwiftUI apps if they want to get on the App Store

then they’d have to make SwiftUI feature complete
