Oh, and also he gets to have a regular D&D campaign as an adult and people don't cancel and actually show up to the game.

"just do what you think is funny" is actually a pretty good strategy when you've already got a built-in fanbase that likes what you think is funny, anyways

I think it's just becoming less funny because it's expected too. It feels like the show is trying to play to that now, which isn't helping either. Mind you, I still loved how helpless she was in the latest episode as she struggled through her "name" among other things.

Yeah, Amy feels like she would work better as an occasional treat, instead of 3-4x a season. If she was on at about the frequency that they've done true facts about Grant, it would work great.

I also really want an episode where the sole purpose is to somehow make Katie break.

I legit get the feeling that Lily Du is holding back annoyance. She gets this expression that's like mildly disgusted bafflement at someone finding this poo poo THAT funny.

I always got the feeling they're more annoyed working with Katie, she does everything too flat and monotone and gives them nothing to work with.

They have to keep having Amy on until she finally breaks 100 laughs in one episode. She's come painstakingly close at least once, would bet money they have a trophy prepared for that occasion when it inevitably occurs.

Yeah, I still find her appearances on the show hilarious. It's more of an idle curiosity. Like, for a show that is designed to be one in which the actors break, I wonder if it is sometimes irritating to those same actors when someone find the material too funny?

I suspect they're all probably fine either way and are more worried about their own performance.

Yes/No is probably my absolute favourite, but to get the most out of it you really need to be familiar with Brennan.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that it's not anywhere close to my favorite, but that's mostly, maybe even entirely, because I don't care about musicals. I can certainly appreciate how much talent what they did took, how well done it was and the joy that Sam took in it, but it didn't actually hit that well for me despite that appreciation. Still fun as just one more game he indulged in, but not something I'll be sad if it never comes up again. I wouldn't be surprised if it did come up as a Game Samer honestly, given how much Sam liked it. It's just not something I'd be all that excited to watch if I saw it pop up, either .

Taken in isolation, Off Book is excellent as a stand alone episode. But taken as a culmination of Brennan's appearances both on Game Changer and on Umm, Actually I'd give Yes/No the nod as a game show episode with continuity!

I forget where they said it (I think in a talk back on the D20 series with Sam) but -

[behind the scenes spoiler for Yes/No episode]
Apparently Brennan did correctly guess it way earlier than they showed. But they needed him to not get it for the episode to still work, so they carried on and edited that out.

Still crossing my fingers they just turn the Sound Effects Game Changer into a series.

It’s December 25th, 1995. I realize that the wrapping paper Santa used for my presents is the same that’s in the basement closet - and that I have been lied to. Over the next 26 years I will slowly learn to trust again, but that trust will be BROKEN.

I always assumed Brennan realized what was up earlier in the episode and kept his mouth shut (his demeanor changes significantly about halfway through) as part of his own improv knowledge but this is at least more humanizing. Giving The Monologue with only five to ten minutes to prep is still pretty impressive.

One thing I miss from the earlier game changers is the ones where contestants had to figure out what the game was a bit. It usually doesn't last for super long, but it's fun when Sam just launches into a question or prompt where how to respond isn't obvious. Lately it feels like it's a bit more "the game changes every time, but you know what the game is about".

I'm pretty sure there were several of them last season, though none yet this season. The one that sticks out to me is the one where they had to try and figure out who they were talking about, and it started out Sam asking them to tell him about themselves as they thought it was like an ice-breaker style "tell me about yourself" type thing; only they were talking about a person Sam had picked out. It was apparently the premier for that season, but I'm sure there were others too.

I'd love to see Laura go on too, alongside Liam; just for that sibling rivalry energy. Or her and Travis. Are Laura, Travis, Ashley and Taliesin the only ones of the main crew who haven't been on, now that Liam and Sam have done an episode? I know that's half the crew, but I'm just wondering if any of them have been on an episode I just forgot, more than anything.

I'm assuming there has to be some sort of consent to something like that, even if it's not immediately before filming. Even if you don't air it, that's a lot of poo poo to reveal to coworkers, and by all appearances Sam and everyone at College Humour are reasonably decent people.

feel like his surprise is probably because he agreed to it but didn't know exactly what it would be or when it would come up in shooting probably months later. no way anything like that makes it to even the shooting stage without

Brennan half-jokingly still trying to figure out a way to win solo is the funniest poo poo. Sam just facepalming and staying in character as DM and having the NPC poo poo-talk him.
