I'm not sure if there's any other game that does the suppliers and sinks mechanism for goods which also allows supplies to organically move towards sinks ON THEIR OWN. You don't have to worry about supplying the steel mill as much if it already gets iron and coal by itself, just slowly and expensively. It frees up a LOT of options.

It's interesting that the mechanic hasn't shown up in more recent games, noting that a lot of the designers of the current train games probably weren't playing train games when RRT3 came out because they were too young, or maybe not born yet.

It depends on what your job is, but like, you don't have to go super nuts with it if you want. You can get a lot done with some basic looping and automation if you're fine with doing stuff manually every once in a while. It's very similar to something like Exapunks except you're not really as constrained so it's just easier to accomplish your goals.

My experience doing automated infrastructure design and deployment has weirdly carried over nearly 1:1 and working with the servers in Bitburner is like 1% as annoying as the real world equivalent so it scratches the itch of making clockwork computer stuff work.

That said, I'm not touching any of the React stuff. I do that for a living right now, and it's always a huge pain in the rear end.

Having been addicted to this game a year ago, I can say that less is more and simple is better with Bitburner, especially if you're playing it as a idle game.

The game doesn't run a lot of the scripting functions when it's offline so going crazy with if-then trees is a waste of time imo.

I have RCT2:Platinum and RCT3, does this mean I'm going to have to install this and give it a go? (yes). Is this one of those titles where 2 is better than 3, or is 3 the one to play?

They both have somewhat different flavors, try 2 first (if you can get it running) then try 3.

railroad tycoon legit taught me what a margin call is, and why loving around with trading on margin is good if and only if your stock price is going up uP UP (and then the stock price goes down slightly while you're leveraged to the hilt trying to own 40% of your company and you get margin called, the broker sells literally everything, and since selling the stock reduces the price the cycle leaves you penniless)

It's the perfect game for people who hate to tear down builds to make room for new stuff. No muss no fuss, just jump to the next zone and start all over again with unlimited potential and a new toy. Factory Town does the same thing and I love it for it.

I should like Mindustry more than I do but idk what it is I just can't get into it. The floating around as a ship to build and plink away at enemies never felt particularly good to me. I think the restarting on new zones thing gets kinda onerous too when you've already set up a bunch of bases before that one.

Capitol: A building or complex of buildings in which any legislature meets.
Capital: A city designated as a legislative seat by the government or some other authority, often the city in which the government is located; otherwise the most important city within a country or a subdivision of it.

explosivo posted:

Yes, it's bonkers.

Features:
- The new spray-on boosters on goods that makes assemblers work faster AND produce bonus stuff at the cost of power (and of course the production chain to make said boosters)
- Geothermal power stations for lava planets
- Conveyor stackers that allow you to stack items up to 4x deep on a conveyor belt (and later end-game science upgrades that let logistics towers do that naturally)
- Giant end-game miner with a huge area, 2x mining speed and has integrated drone logistics.

Not to mention lots of quality of life updates such as being able to hide layers when working on dyson sphere designs, dyson sphere blueprints, ability to fiddle with and check on dyson spheres from any planet in your system.

Hey nerds!

Two questions:

1. Do we still need platinum to send and receive PMs?

2. For those of you who use Humble Bundle. Can I reveal the steam key to games, even ones that have been up for a couple years, and just send the key through a PM?

Because I just realized that I haven't claimed about a dozen games that get mentioned here sometimes since I bought them before they showed up in a bundle.
And since they aren't doing me any good I'd love to hand them out to any goon who would like to try them.

Yes and also yes unless it's one of the few games they ran out of keys for.

I did, and didn't think much of it. It's another Settlers I / Kingdoms and Castles clone where you're setting up a city and dropping down production chains and setting job priorities, but it doesn't give you any feedback or information on what the shape of those chains should be or how changing any numbers in that chain changes anything in that chain.

For example, you're supposed to grow bread for people to eat, which means setting up a market to distribute bread, a mill to grind grain into bread, a farm to collect grain, and fields to grow grain. How many of each do you need? No clear answer, you're just supposed to start throwing it all down and staring at it to see whether you're producing too much or not enough and then adjust and stare at the numbers more. Does changing the number of people in a building change what happens? How much? No answer. Occasionally a loading screen will bring a hint like 'Each well can support 8 houses!' but then that doesn't answer whether upgrading the house means the well supports 4 upgraded houses or still supports 8, and the only way to know is to just try it and see if it all collapses and then next time say "maybe I need more, but maybe being closer was the problem but maybe not??????"

Maybe I've just been spoiled by Anno 1800 and Satisfactory and games that actually tell me what I need and leave it to me to figure out how to arrange it and make it work, but I just don't have patience any more for games where doing trial and error to see how production chains work is considered gameplay.

On top of that, the big differentiator is supposed to be that you can control villagers and do their work, but the controls aren't great and occasionally I'd run into places where the hotspot I needed to get to in order to work wasn't accessible. I also think you're supposed to set up defenses and fight off raids like Kingdoms and Castles, but I never get far enough in city building to where that popped up.
