I watched Reincarnated into a Fantasy Knockout and it's uh... idk. I like the idea and it's got some good bits, but episode 1 was aggressively annoying with how much it kept beating the drum on its premise. Episode 2 was a lot better with some gags that actually got laughs out of me and the dynamic between Hinata and Jinguji works better here. I really just want the romantic aspect of this story to resolve itself by the end of the show, but this being an adaptation means it's probably gonna run around in circles for a long time until they finally get to that point.

Wish that third act wasn't so rote but heck, it was pretty funny throughout so that made up for it. Nice way to spend an evening  I can easily imagine a world in which it's a 12 episode tv anime instead and loses its momentum, so I'm glad it was a movie.

i think it's really stupid how half the time ousama ranking gets a big rec thrown in here it's someone bragging about how much better the anime looks than the manga as if that's going to reel me into any kind of interest. i watch shows that look WORSE than the manga, you think this means anything to me? contact me again when they spend five minutes talking in a dark forest with the camera obscured by a single foreground png of a leaf

Sometimes it's just neat to see how panels from a manga are adapted into an anime from an artistic perspective and it doesn't have to be a pissing match about anime vs manga. I went from "Oh what a neat video, illustrators and animators are so cool and talented!" to a bunch of weird replies pitting them against each other.

Genius Prince was a bit eh last week but I thought this week was pretty good. We caught up on a bunch of exposition which is what people were complaining about being skipped and it was basically an episode of personalities bouncing off each other and intrigue. Unrelated but if I watched Demon Slayer: Mugen Train and thought it was just ok. The fight at the end was good but I was honestly just annoyed that once again the demon invalidates the heroes win through sheer bullshit. It pissed me off when they completely undercut Tanjiro's big fight in season 1 that way and it sucked for it to happen 2 arcs in a row.

I thought Genius Prince improved as well, and seemed more like an actual episode rather than an X.5 without the recap. My guess is The hidden arms caches are meant to be discovered and for the 3 empire fractions to THINK that the prince and princess are colluding. That's why the princess came with retainers from the 3 factions, so they can discover the weapons build up and report back. Her plan is exactly what she said it was, except she needs needs to force Wein's hand for him to accept, just like he suggested she should.
