I’ve stood up for Simmons in the past and have expressed desire to have him on the Kings, but you’d be insane to trade a sophomore guard on a lowercase s star track who can run PnR and cash 3s, even for an all-defensive all-star talent at a position of need with a long contract. Well, specifically Simmons. Edit: haven’t actually watched a Kings game in a month and a half (after watching almost every one the last few years), and I just saw the box score. Goddamn. I do not get passing up Haliburton if he's really on the table, I do not get putting him on the table. He's still at that stage where we don't actually know what his ceiling is, but it looks high. That's a player you're happy to get top 5 in the draft.

Last year even when he was doing well the talk was he'd be a real nice high end role player. Which may still be true but that step back 3 he has is certainly better than everyone thought it would be and he's so good in the PNR now so him being a priority over Fox is becoming a possibility. Harden wasn’t even floated out until the last three weeks. The most you can say is that he wanted a huge package of assets to then trade for star, but pretending that Harden really was the real thing behind Beal/Dame is some Star Wars level sloppy writing and still sidesteps the fact that he still hasn’t delivered on that either
