I have to give it to John Cena, the guy can sell a scene and it's a nice surprise. The earlier episode where Economos is stiching Peacemaker up and at one point after tons of abuse he calls him a dick, we see him alone in his trailer crying that he isn't a dick and it's so hilarious and sad af. It's really good I hope anyone that hasn't started watching gives it a try cause James Gunn never disappoints apparently.

I've gotta say, it's very nice that this show is being used to entirely recontextualize what could have just been the same jokes from the movie done over again in different settings.

It's not just "oh well now Hawkeye gets a series because Renner needs a vehicle"

It's still ridiculously and joyfully indulgent but it has a reason to exist beyond just "John Cena was fun in the movie and wanted to do more stuff".

Also everyone is great but props to Robert Patrick for really leaning into a super racist and giving an equally frightening and vulnerable performance

Catching up on this and just finished episode four. Is it weird that I sort of 'ship Adrian and Harcourt at this point? He looked like such a sad little boy when she came to pick him up. And that was after he finished destroying the white supremacists both physically and philosophically.

Cinderella were also pretty well known as far as Hair Metal went. And almost any sub-sub-subgenere of music has lots of amazing songs as long as you have a dedicated team to filter out all the generic crap.

Ah yes, And I have watched the Dirt too. Saigon Kick and Hanoi Rocks are very close together in name.

I mentioned I knew Cinderella before, and on the playlist only Faster Pussycat and Nashville Pussy I knew about. Also the guy from Steel Panther is there too. I posted the playlist to my FB and one of my old HMV coworkers was "oh yea this poo poo rules!" because she really knew that kind of music.

Gunn using their song for the opening credits literally saved the band Wig Wam. The band had been dropped from their agent three days before the show premiered and were on the verge of breaking up (again.) They knew that their song was going to be used for the show but had no idea that it was going to be the opening theme and that there was an elaborate dance number being done to it.

this show is insanely amazing, i thought the suicide squad was okay and had issues, but this show has hooked me. i also now have a crush on freddie stroma due to this because vigilante is so goddamn awesome that I hope Gunn using a completely different spin on Adrian Chase leads to him getting to be more than what he was in the comics. He's like, if the main character from Super went to his logical end but at a much younger age, and I love that Gunn seems to be exploring more themes from that movie and i'm shocked how well he's working in the television space compared to the movies he's made that I haven't quite as enjoyed.

I do believe the twist is going to be murn is either a butterfly that was the cause of war crimes or actions on their original planet that led to it's demise, or is a human who's overpowered his butterfly and resents the lack of control despite everything good they are doing. I also get the feeling in re: to The White Dragon since peacemaker snaps in the comics and believes his helmet is haunted, I would guess Robert Patrick continues his role in the show as the first ghost in his helmet after he kills him this season.

Even with the pinkie injury, he was able to walk and throw the heavy metal trashcan at the window.

The whole dumb "endless optimism" mindset is one of the main things that makes Vigilante such a scene stealer like how it's not torture it was a character building challenge.

One of the most interesting bits for me in retrospect was him taking down the White Supremacist guys. Because Vigilante has no special "crime preferences" that we've seen. He'll kill a bigot just as easily as would somebody spraying graffiti or littering. So that whole scene, cool as it was, was just Adrian solving the tactical problem of "How do I goad these people into publicly attacking me first so I'll dodge the blame when I "accidentally" kill Chris's racist father in the fight?"

Another cool thing was how quickly Adrian and Chris's places on the team got switched. I've read/seen stories like this before where one of the professional member of an action-hero team has kind of a goofy best friend who ends up becoming part of the team but is mostly accepted because of his prior relationship with the original team member. Sometimes the original team member says something like "You can either accept both of us or neither of us. If he leaves, so do I."

That's where things started in Episode Three. Then Adrian killed the three butterflies and Murn was like "Oh, we're keeping him." At this point the main reason Murn wants Peacemaker on the team is to keep Vigilante on the team because Vigilante is the "necessary psychopath" that he'd thought Peacemaker was.

The whole bit were he casually does the sniping no scope CoD killstreak on the family was also a great way to define his character.
