hmm. I have a theory of Daida having taken control back of his body but kept his father's power. I feel like they kept Daida/Bosses personality quite subdued this episode on purpose.

Problems look mighty small from 150 miles up.

I'll admit it, I laughed when everyone is grimacing in horror at the sound of oukening.ogg and Bojji's just standing there stoically.

Oh, I dunno, getting turned into a diamond might actually approach death and be merciful compared to what Bosse ended up doing!

You could consider this a brand-new jail for him. It's just that it's made for Samus and/or Sonic the Hedgehog, rather than something that can't become a ball at will.

This. There's nothing worse than laying down your heal AoE while your team dances around it and yells at you that they're dying.

It really feels to me like Bosse is under some kind of geas, forced to work around it to do what he really wants. Probably something like 'you have to fight your former allies' but if after his attack they just happen to be in range of his AOE heals on Boji, that's another thing.

I think it was just faster for him to bludgeon them into a single pile and then heal them in a group

That was obviously a kids glove treatment, because we saw in the same episode what a serious hit from Bosse looks like (You go splat). He didn't need to flex, because his first strike that halved Ouken was the much bigger flex. I don't think he is trying to rules lawyer his involvement, more like he feels an obligation to Miranjo based on their shared past and this obligation can be softened based on her trying to kill people he cares about. Which says something, because he seemed okay with both Hilling and his first wife getting murdered by her. Neither was a deal breaker. Bojji being on death's door was a bridge too far. Which makes me wonder, does he actually care about the big 4, or did he think "I'm going to heal my son, might as well include these blockheads?" But then I have to think an AOE heal is obviously more draining than healing just Bojji, so he is going out of his way to heal people other than his immediate family. So Bosse's true loyalties remain up in the air. He is willing to let Miranjo run amuck to the point of letting her kill his wives, but he will intervein for Bojji/the big 4.

Another thought: Bosse 100% rolled over for the underworld criminals. They were never even a tiny bit of a threat to him, just bugs that he allowed to tie him up with ropes he could break out of any time he wanted. He let them capture him because he felt he needed to let Miranjo do her thing. Everything has happened because Bosse let it all happen, he could have ended it all at any point, easily. He just doesn't for reasons we don't know yet.

I can't remember. Do we have any indication Bosse knew Miranjo was alive inside the mirror prior to his resurrection? Because it looks like he thought she was dead (having been backstabbed during the same battle she killed Sheena). So far, there's nothing to show he was involved or condoned Sheena's death, and it very much looks like Miranjo acted on her own when going after Sheena and Bojji.

Loyalties and history and he's still a douche, blah blah blah. But I don't think Sheena's death is something he wanted, and I'm pretty sure Hilling's assassination was something he was just rolling with to give himself time to figure out what was going on because he knew he'd probably be strong enough to stop it.

Right now, I'm thinking maybe the prize every number 1 king takes, that causes either madness or death, is Ouken's Immortality. The lucky ones manage to kill themselves when they realise what's going to happen, the ones who can't or won't become more and more deranged.

I wonder what he was king of...

The thing is, the show is afraid to have the named characters do anything that is truly irreversible to other named characters. aside from Miranjo killing Bojii's mother.. They might beat someone up, but basically every attempt to kill someone never works.

I feel like the pacing issues are because the story becomes more focused on a singular conflict (Ouken and the others invading the kingdom) so compared to a lot of small events happening over a period of time, it feels off

I mean. Plenty of people who were targeted for killing have died. It only seems off with the main characters because Ouken is literally immortal and his twisted form of sadism is making people slowly bleed out.

And I guess Domas being bad as suicide.

Bosse took out one of the demons Miranjo was using in the assassination and then tested Droshe to make sure he could protect Hiling.

The whole vote is something of a loose end as we still don't know how Miranjo was aware of the outcome or how Miranjo ordered Bojji's assassination which she claimed she'd done but we saw the order was given by Daida.
