If the Saudis want to make OPEC unity a priority, it makes it a lot easier if they have more workable relations with the Iranians. Also, the Yemeni War clearly wasn't going their way despite all they have spent on it. I guess the question is how durable this "pause" will be and if the emerging realignment in Middle Eastern relations will hold since it seems like Russia/China now pretty now have close if not workable relations with all the major powers.

everybody’s committing atrocities in Ethiopia, except for the groups who have managed to stay out of it completely. the Tigrayans just seem to have a more sophisticated overseas outreach. America’s approach to the war has been characterized by indecision. we want to support the government, but then the war was going badly so maybe we should wait and see. it’s pretty unusual for US foreign policy to not clearly pick a side like we have.
