Even my Nextbase 622GW was made in China. That being said, the first one I was looking into was the Viofo 4K model with their 1440p rear camera option. Then I looked into Blackvues, which have a Cloud Storage backup option, but finally settled on Nextbase because of image quality. Thinkwares are even more expensive than Nextbase. It's also very worth it to hardwire the camera in, too - the higher end ones, you can remove at least the front camera to make it less likely to get stolen.

I know they're all made in china. I'm just at a point that I can afford better than my current APEMAN brand camera with the world's worst controls. Nextbase has been a brand I keep looking at, but most dashcams now are some alphabet soup of english letters. Hard to know which ones are actually worth looking at when you figure in false reviews. I'll look closer at Nextbase though, thanks.

Hey, big headline. It just occurred to me you might want to sweep for airtags on your car. Apple has an app for their poo poo and android called Tracker Detect. Especially if there was any time someone could have gotten near your car while you were out. E: Also those nextbase cameras look pretty good, but I can probably skate on one of their cheaper models. The interface simplicity is really what I need. A previous camera also made lovely .avi files that never work on anything but the camera. I barely drive as it is and almost never at night anymore. I literally watched them come up the road and stop behind me. That doesn't preclude them using a tracker, but at no time did anyone get out of the car to plant anything - if a door had ever opened I'd have gunned it through any red light I was stopped at. And yeah, the 522GW is 1440p and way more affordable. Blackvue's cameras with the cloud storage and 4G LTE connection options are unique as well, but those can get extremely expensive with all the bells and whistles. I remembered that I passed a traffic stop with *three* Vienna cop cars pulling over some poor bastard in an SUV and the Maserati had to have passed by them before encountering me. I've put in a FOIA request (even saying that I personally don't need any information so long as it's provided to Fairfax County police) for their dashcam footage (with everything not pertaining to my request being redacted), though I'm not optimistic. EDIT: Went out in the rain and ran Tracker Detect twice while my car was off, no hits. And my 622GW outputs .MP4 files, just FYI.
